A perfect choice in the heart of Palermo

The newly renovated Centrale Palace offered everything we needed to enjoy Palermo – comfortable amenities, courteous service, a generous breakfast buffet that fuelled us for a day of sightseeing, and best of all, its central location in the very heart of Palermo. We appreciated the hotel's private and secure parking and we easily walked to most of the sights. When we were tired we used the public bus that passed right in front of the Centrale.

Their restaurant “Ai Tetti” has lovely views of rooftops of the city and is where we had breakfast, as well as an excellent dinner. The Centrale Palace was a very good choice for our stay in Palermo.

Top Local Tips for Palermo

Where to go! All of the best shopping is on the Via Maqueda and Via Roma. I just walked up and down these streets all day and there are SO many shops to visit. The clothing is so beautiful and well made. The little bars along these streets are welcoming to tourists and they will struggle with their English, I found very little people who worked in the bars/cafes knew English. There are many discos in the historical area. I had to wander along these little alleys to find them. In between the Via Roma and the Quattro Canti. There is a huge unique market by the Quattro Canti as well, where most of the immigrants make their living.

Don't drive in Palermo! We should have know better, but we don't recommend driving in Palermo. Better to take a taxi and if in need of a car later, rent one from the airport and avoid the city driving. The city is, of couse, old, and so roads are narrow and congested, and maps are cofusing with many roads becoming 'one-way' without notice (making it difficult to follow a charted course). Lovely city, but better to walk it.
