Top Local Tips for Alghero

public transport Get bus timetables from the Tourist Office. Be very careful to check the days on which the buses actually run. The airport bus arrives and departs fron the centre of town. The railway station is some way out and its worth taking a taxi if you arrive there unless you know that your accomodationis close.Buses to Capo Cacchia, Bosa and Sassari.

ALGHERO EXPERIENCE Like their Catalan relatives everything in Alghero ( and Bosa ) closes at 1.00 and reopens about 4.00 ( except the bars and geleterias of course ). So if you go to Bosa on the bus - which leaves Alghero at 9.55 and does not return until 5.20 ( inland route ) or 5.45 ( coastal route ) then beware that there is nothing to see betwen 1 & 4 as the shops, museum, castle and cathedral in Bosa all close at 1.00. During this time make your way down to the marina at Bosa. Eating out in Alghero can be an enjoyable experience. But watch out for some restaurants who include extortionate services charges(9.75 euros at the Nepttuno near the sea front). On the whole most of the restaurants were good value, particularly the pasta dishes. If your like your meat well cooked make sure you ask otherwise it will often come rare.

Lobster have the lobsteri n spagetti - at 18 euros this is the cheapest half a lobster I have eaten
