Top Local Tips for Alghero

Buses Buses on the island are very cheap, clean and reliable - but very limited - plan your trips the day before and arrive at the bus stop in plently of time. Also - you cannot buy tickets or pay on the bus - you have to buy in advance from the ticket offices, tobaco stands or strangely enough in Fertilla a fruit shop! There is no indication of this anywhere - we found out purely by accident as we saw a sign in the fruit shop window.

Bus tickets when you see a tobacco shop, buy your bus tickets in advance, Sardos like to close for their lunch break and never open shops on time therfore if you need to take a bus you have your tickets.

GET A CAR Rent a car , preferably without going through a partner + reserve it before you arrive so you can pick it up from the airport . You will really need one if you want to explore the region and discover tens of really nice sandy beaches with clear blue waters around . The buses might be ok but a lot of time can be wasted waiting for them , especially because the timetables do not seem to be accurate sometimes
