Service and staff very kind and friendly. Bedrooms very comfortable and spotlessly maintained by staff. Dining and menus were excellent quality. In all aspects a relaxed and enjoyable stay for what was our 40th. wedding anniversery. The area surrounding was great showing and giving a terrific insight to the unique Italian people and their country.
Staff were brill!

We were a little disappointed with this hotel as we were expecting a room with a sea view (we paid for it in the booking) but no rooms had a sea view unless you were on the top floor in a 'Suite' even then it was a struggle. We were on the second floor and we had Ants in the bathroom.Yuk. A think the hotel must have been built on an ants nest cos there was loads of em on the entrance steps as well. This palace was not, it had shabby carpets which were raising up from the floor, maids and cleaners did their best but the place looks in bad need for a refurb! The food was okay and was served up very efficiently by the lovely waiters.
Jack the barman was very friendly and gave us snacks each time we ordered drinks. It was a long walk to Sorrento main square (seemed like four miles away, especially in the heat, and we walked it each time!) We definitely wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

Great Place
from PittTraveler
We stayed at the Majestic Palace for five nights. We had a great experience. Very warm and friendly staff, especially Roberta. She always has a smile and some excellent advice. The hotel is in a great location--off the busy street and an easy walk to everything. The area has a warm, residential feel. The Crawford Restaurant up the street has great food, and is very convenient to the hotel. The rooms are a bit on the older side, but very comfortable, spacious and clean. Our balcony overlooked orange trees and made for a very pretty view. The bus stop is just around the corner, as is a park with a playground. There is also an internet cafe just up the street. Our only negative comment is that the breakfast gets a little boring. They seem to serve the same thing every day, and for an American, there were not too many appealing choices. Other than that, we had a great time, and look forward to our return.
t describe it as quiet!
from Vonny1952
This lovely hotel is in a side road off the main road into Sorrento. I wouldn't describe it as quiet, just perhaps quieter than being on the main road. There is a courtesy bus from the hotel into Sorrento several times a day but you have to request it. We had a lovely room with balcony. Food was wonderful, dining room staff excellent, as were reception staff, especially Roberta, always ready with a smile.
If you go with a travel company don't bother with their organised trips - it is much cheaper to do it yourself. public transport is cheap and very reliable. The train station with trains to Naples, Pompeii and Herculaneum is just a 10 minute walk away.
Sorrento and surrounding areas are not very relaxing, too much to see, but the pool at the hotel is nice.
If you go to Pompeii get there early to avoid crowds. Audio tours are worth the money. We were there for 5 hours. In summer it is very hot so take water. There are a lot of stray dogs there but they aren't aggressive.
Capri is worth a visit, we took the hydrofoil which took less than 30 minutes. Capri is very steep 'though. Get the funicula up to the top. The views are wonderful.

Charming Quiet hotel
from LondonEC3Pat
We have just returned from a week at the Majestic Hotel. Staff were very polite and helpful. Rooms spacious and clean with lovely views, although we did pay for an upgrade in advance it was well worth the extra money. Food was very good, although not quite sure about the grand buffet night. The breakfasts were excellent with full English available each morning from the buffet.
25 minuet walk into Sorrento or you can use the local buses, ferries, trains or buses

Wholeheartedly loved our stay!

Hotel Majectic Palace offered everthing we could have wished for in terms of accomodation, service, location and old Italian charm. The food was excellent with professonal presentation and waitor service. Our room was spacious and clean with a balcony offering beautiful views down to the sea. Live music a few times a week and a wonderful gala night on Thursday where traditional Italian musicians played for each table! A courtesy bus will take guests to the center of Sorrento in ten minutes, the hotel is also well served by local bus services €1 each way. A five minute walk and guests will find stunning views of the San Angello coastline and privat beach...we enjoyed our stay immensely and would certainly recommend it.
lovely stylish friendly hotel

we were absolutely delighted with this hotel. built in 1965 it has charm, style and we loved the food ! this hotel is in a quiet spot off the main road, surrounded by orange and lemon groves. we stayed for 7 nights in early may 06 - half board on a package deal . the food was really quite good - buffet breakfast with lovely fresh bread / rolls , continental style breakfast plus egg & bacon each day. Evening meal is a 4 course affair and hs a hint of " school dinner" about it but presentation is excellent. one tip is on the "buffet night " do get there promply. dinner served from7.30pm - we got to dinner late - normally no problem as its silver service however on buffet night nothing was left on the table after 8pm ! staff were all very friendly & helpful . as we were on a package deal we got allocated a "basement room " but it was really very good with shared balcony - no view- but we were out all day. room was spacoius and clean, bathroom was a bit " tired " but clean with bath and shower. with TV and mini bar / fridge. . the lounge areas of the hotel are quite large - full of old furniture & mirrors. this is not 4 star when compared to engllish / american 4 star but we loved it for its itallian style & charm. a great base to see the sorrento area or stay around the pool & relax.
Amazing

Amazing is the only way to describe the Majestic from the staff to the views to the accomodations. The hotel was spotless and the staff was incredibly helpful especially Roberta.
Accommodating hotel
from lonewanderer
The Majestic Palace was a very nice hotel and the staff accommodating. I arrived a day early and they were very helpful in getting me a room. The single room turned out to be much nicer than i had expected, with a great balcony. The breakfast in the morning was very good, however I did not try the dinner there. The staff at the front desk were very helpful in suggesting restaurants etc. The location was convienent to the bus stop and the train, but a bit of a walk to the center of sorrento. My only complaint would be that the walks seemed to be very thin and you could here everything going on in the rooms next door and in the halls. But after being so tired every night from all the sightseeing, it didnt affect my sleep. Thanks Majestic for making my stay a pleasant one!
Wonderful Hotel, Spacious and Comfortable
from shadow2x
Excellent hotel for the money. Even though the staff were few, it had the feel and comfort of an upscale hotel. The rooms are enormous by European and Italian standards, so we were quite pleased by the luxurious feel of the room. The view from our balcony was beautiful and tranquil. The beds are very comfortable and relaxing, with very soft puffy pillows to sleep on. The bathroom, hallways, and floors were spotless.
There are plenty of restaurants just a short ride away near the shopping district, and getting there was no problem at all. We slept wonderfully for the full 2 days, and would definitely choose this hotel over the more pricier ones in the area.

superb hotel

we actually had booked in another hotel but got moved to the majestic because of some problems with our original hotel. i'm really glad i did get moved...we got a beautiful room on the 2nd floor. our room actually was huge with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. the room actually got cleaned more than once a day and the staff were more than happy to answer all our questions about places to visit and transport links. the breakfast was great and we stuffed our faces every day! thank you majestic palace for a lovely stay in sorrento.
Lovely location
from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel is a little outdated its true,But this aside, the rooms are well furnished and the location is supurb! Sorrento is a very busy town with lots of noisy scooters driving around. The Majestic palace, being situated on the outskirts provides a perfect location to avoid the noise pollution at night and get a good nights sleep! Book a superior room to get the views (for not a lot more)and B&B and sample the local cuisine!Honestly, this is the best way to do it!Hotel food is not great.....You've paid your money and they dont have to try! If you turn left out of the hotel and walk down to the cliff tops you will find the Bar Le Terrazza and experience possibly the best view of sorrento and vesuvious on the whole coastline!!!....They also serve great food. Sorrento its self is a 20 minute walk.We did this, in and out most nights and found it a pleasant way to burn of those calories from all the rich pasta! If you fancy a real treat then try Il Buco restaurant situated south of the main square and then first right!Enjoy!!!

Sunset and bar See the amazing sunset at the bottom of the street. It looks beautiful. For a nice bar and some live music try the Wine Bar. They are friendly and welcoming.

The meals were pleasant and the sweets were works of art. Sorrento is only a half hour walk from the hotel and the bus service is very simple to use if this walk is too much. The views from the hotel are interesting and beautiful and it is far enough away from Sorrento to make it feel a more authentic Italy and not so tourist orientated. There are some lovely shops in Sant Agnello and a very busy high street. I would not hesitate in staying there again if I ever return to Sorrento.
