Top Local Tips for Rome
Expensive The cheapest airport/hotel transfer was 30 Euro for two plus 5 Euro for each additonal passenger. Could only find this after we arrived at our hotel. The cab fare from the main airport to the hotel was 50 Euro.
Moving around Taxis are not cheap. Subway is fast and frequent, but there are only two urban lines in Rome and they do not cover many areas. Bear in mind the "A" metro line runs only until 9pm. Tickets (one euro) are valid for 75 minutes. You can buy a "day" pass for 4 euros or a "3 day" one for 11. There is also a weekly one. They will cover subway, bus and tramway.

We were in a neighborhood that looked seedy, but was friendly and helpful, (for two Americans who couldn't speak the language). The staff at the hotel were wonderful. They gave us a room that was big, clean and airy. We had a little patio and all modern plumbing in the bathroom. When we came back to the room after a day of siteseeing, it was like coming home.
There was a market down the street called, Emme Piu, and the people who worked there were fantastic!
Closer to the hotel there was a G. Fassi Gelato place and every night we would stop in there and have a gelato before heading to the room.
I would recommend this hotel to ANYone who is looking for a nice place to stay in Rome!
