Good cheap accommodations

Have stayed here before (1997) with a school group and found it decent; returned this year and it was the same. Rooms have thin walls so take earplugs. Other than that, it's fine.

Top Local Tips for Rome
Wonderful restaurant near Colosseum We had a beautiful lunch at Il Bocconcino on Via Ostilia, near the Colosseum. The service was excellent (the waiter wrote down the names of each of the cheeses on our cheese course because we loved them so much). The other diners were Italian families. Even we Americans got tired of hearing American accents in Rome! We ate inside because it was such a hot day. It was cool and peaceful and relaxing. We loved the food and valued the service. Highly recommended.
