This hotel did not work for us - GO ELSEWHERE

I was traveling with a family of four. I found the hotel unpleasant and would definitely not stay there again and would not recommend it to anyone. We had two rooms - both of which, though clean, measured about 9 feet by 9 feet. The room on the outside was very noisy - perhaps because we arrived on a Friday and this Campo De Fiori location seems to be party central for the younger set. It did not quiet down until about 4:00 am. At one point my wife thought they might be tipping cars over in the street after the bottle smashing contest (but more likely the early garbage crew or towing crew). Further, this outside room, #201, developed some weird sewage odor. The inside room we had that first night was very quite, so the next day we moved to two inside rooms that were not adjacent. Unfortunately there was a door allowing one of the rooms to connected with another, and you could hear EVERY sound made in the adjacent room - rustled paper, phone calls, zippers, farts, and the...... I have been sending clients from this travel agency to the Smeraldo for many years and have always had glowing reports about the cleanliness, the hospitality offered, the location and the reasonable price for the rooms. The location near the Piazza Navona is wonderful for clients wishing to be in the old part of Rome, yet convenient to everything else. A great walking area surrounfs the hotel. Have never had a complaint.
