Top Local Tips for Rome

BE CAREFUL WITH PICKPOCKETS AND THEFTS! On our first day in Rome, we left our luggage in the back of our rental car from Switzerland while we went to the Vatican for a few hours & just covered everything with a blanket because it was too early to check into our hotel. When we came back, the back window was open and everything was taken from the car--suitcases, carry-on bags, ipods, cell phones, laptop, a suit/dresses for a wedding, and worst of all, our PASSPORTS! We locked all the doors and the windows were all up, but someone stuck something over the top of the window and pulled it down & dragged everything out of our car. Always bring your passports, money, credit cards, etc. with you, or leave it in a safe spot in the hotel. If you have multiple brands of credit cards & are travelling with a spouse, give all of the same type of card to one person so just in case it gets stolen, you can just cancel 1 card and still have another type to use. EX: give all mastercards to one person & give the Visas to the other person.
