Top Local Tips for Rome

Taxis in Rome. Make sure to only take the white taxis with the Roma sign on the side. They are general safer and you're least likely to get ripped off. However, the taxi from Termini to Teatro de Marcello was outrageously priced- 28 euro for two people in the evening for a ten minute ride. And then the taxi driver wanted to rip us off by 10 euro. Always count your change because we were shorted once or twice. The worst was the Termini driver. Also, taxi drivers don't like to make change and sometimes won't make change for 50 Euro. So, make sure you have some small bills and some Euro change for taxis. We tipped one to two Euro for good service. Oh, the driving in Rome is scary but you get used to it. Just relax and enjoy the craziness.

Best ice cream in the city, and NOT owned by Japanese conglomerates.... An authentic gelateria with the most delicious and original flavor, Ricotta and Cinnamon, is the Gelateria Aracoeli, just in front of the Piazza Aracoeli, close to the Campodoglio and the Museo Capitolini... Family pride in their small business permeates every ice cream. DO NOT MISS THIS!!!
