Disappointed in our stay

Our stay at the Hotel Serena turned in a major disappointment. Bottom line, the air conditioner did not work our entire stay. Because it was hot, we slept with the windows open. The hotel is on a very noisy street. This caused very poor sleep. The manager was very rude to us when I complained about the lack of air conditioning. She told me if I did not like it, to pack up and move to the street. if it had not been so late in the evening, I would have moved out. A bad experience. The rooms were quite small, but clean. The breakfast was good.

Top Local Tips for Rome

Colosseum Be careful to pick the right tour guide if you want to sign up for the English speaking one. They all charged differently and mine tour guide (female) is really lousy with her explanation about the history. i expect more for the amount i paid.

Don't forget to stamp your bus/ metro ticket Once arrived in Rome you can buy bus/metro tickets for single rides, 3 days, 7 days or monthly. All this tickets needs to be put into the yellow apparatus(in the busses) to stamp the tickets on first useage to make them valid. For Metro rides the entry gate will stamp your ticket.

august!! several shops shut for the annual holiday in august, although many were still open. eating out compatible for price with uk, never had a shock when bill arrived, but you need a second mortgage to buy anything from the high street shops.
