Don't ever stay here!

Don't know where to start, this hotel is awful. Small rooms, we can deal with, but not small, dirty, dangerous, unfinished, unsecure rooms that you can barely open the door to enter. We knew we had blundered when we were advised not to walk around the surrounding streets after dark by the agency taxi driver who brought us from the airport. Light sockets and plug points were hanging out of the walls, with an earth wire clearly visible. The television was broken, the lightshade consisted of two paper napkins on a bare bulb - fire hazard! and the glass shelf above the filthy sink was hanging out of the wall. The door barely opened enough for a person to enter, let alone a person with a suitcase and was in a state of disrepair. This was a third floor room. The first floor rooms seemed to be completely different, with new doors and more secure-looking locks. In fact, the first floor just looked cleaner in general - this is clearly the pictures they use in brochures and web advertising.
Another thing we noted, when we arrived at 1130pm, was that the breakfast pastries and cereal appeared to have been left out, uncovered for the next day. The night porter we complained to about the room (within 5 minutes of checking in), was completely unfazed by our comments - clearly not the first time this has happened to him.
Unsurprisingly, we checked out the next morning - without eating the breakfast. Please take heed folks, DO NOT risk ruining your holiday by staying here. After this brief glitch, we had an amazing time in a wonderful city.
Rude and misunderstanding!!

My boyfriend and i stayed in this hotel on the 8-10 May 2005. I booked this hotel via Booking. It for 101 euro so i was very pleased as hotels in Rome are very expensive. The next day i received an email from the manager informing me there was a error, it was 100 euro per night!! However, the manager was very nice and accepted 130 euro instead. We arrived in Rome and was unable to find the hotel because it was down a slope in an alley!! Go into station and follow arrows to Cavour, 7th or 8th alley on the right. We were given a double room at first then the hotel asked us to change into a single room with double bed and was told we were going to be moved again in the morning!! So in the evening, we packed and expected to moved rooms again but didn't and wasn't told!! We weren't given enough towels and they were were not changed each day. As we were checking out, we were accused of drinking water from the room mini fridge (1 euro per bottle). And as i tried to explain we did not drink anything because we bought our own drinks and snacks from the supermarket he just rolled his eyes and kept saying "YES YOU DID". On a good note, the hotel was clean and about 25 mins walk to centre and nice cafe next door.
The manager was nice!! So thank you!!

Greatest Hotel Saturnia, Roma

from HappyVince
My review of Hotel Saturnia contains nothing but good... everything about the hotel made my stay in Roma so much better.
To begin with the location; it's excellent located near the Termini trainstation, so when you arrive, you've just got a short walk to your hotel, 5 minutes. This way you can get rid of your suitcase and your other packings very soon and check out the wonders that the great city of roma has to offer you!
Second; the staff of this hotel is Superb! Most kindly and always ready to help you with anything you need. The staff of this hotel sets an excellent example of how any staff in any hotel should be!
I've travelled to Roma by myself, however I've never felt alone in my Holiday of a week.
I think it's one of the best places to stay during a holiday to Roma!
Nothing but good godd things about this hotel, keep in mind that it is a 2 star rated hotel, so the rooms are in this class... however the location, the staff and the entourage are more than 5 stars!!! They're superb!

Have a nice holiday in Roma, and a very very nice stay in this Hotel

Nice hotel, great staff, perfect location! -Saturnia

from KjetilNorway
We went to Rome as a couple, 24 and 26 years old, for a two-night stay on our way further south. After a lot of trouble at the airport(loss of luggage), it was great to find that the hotel Saturnia was just a short walk from the central train station- Termini. The reception was open 24 hours and the staff immediately helped to translate the italian papers we got at the airport and even called several times to ask for the luggage.
Based on experience in other major european cities, Hotel Saturnia gives good value for the price, nice rooms with AC, TV, minibar and nice bathrooms. Hotels and rooms were clean and tidy - rooms were tidied everyday. The rooms and bathrooms were small, but nice and well equipped, with everything you would expect to find in a hotel room.
The location is perfect, between the train station and the Colosseum. The staff spoke perfect english and gave us maps and great information on how to get around and where to go. Thanks to them we saw the Vatican with the church of Saint Peter, with the Pope actually there, conducting a sermon, then the piazza nuovo, the column of Trajan, the remains of ancient Rome, the Pantheon , the main shopping street with the Trevi fountain and the spanish steps, and then the Colosseum in only one day!! Then we walked from the Colosseum back to the hotel and enjoyed one of the nice restaurants in the area around the hotel. The hotel itself serves an italian breakfast, wich means croissant, coffe and juice, and also cereals.
Overall the hotel has a good standard and the staff and location is what makes it great.

2 Star with Great People

from Rachael898
Simple hotel that's in a great location for seeing the colosseum. The hotel itself is about a 2 star. The rooms are minimal with small showers. However, what the hotel lacks in luster it gains in staff assistance. Our bathroom broke and they moved us to a new room right away. The staff also helped us with travel and attraction information that was priceless. We had such an easier time seeing what we wanted to see because of the hotel staff.

Both thumbs up!!

from Panduro
My girlfriend and I has just got back after a wonderful romantic get-away in Rome :) The trip started off pretty badly though since our main bag didn't arrive with the plane but the hotelstaff was very helpful right from the start. They kept calling the airline and the bag came just 24 hours delayed - instead of the usally 3- 4 days. They where also very helpful whenever we had other questions. We definately will stay there again next time we are in Rome! It's very central - just 3 min. from Coloseum and the main trainstation - easy to find - walking distance to the citycenter. We only used the metro once. Very nice Italian restaurant just around the corner :) The rooms are simple but clean and newly renovated - and what do you expect for just 90 euros a night? This is good value for your money!
Anyway once again a huge thanks to the wonderful staff at Saturnia Hotel :)

What a fantastic hotel

from TimKent
We went to Rome over the 17th March 2007 weekend, for a holiday break. The Hotel Saturnia is well run and pleasant and within easy reach of the Spanish Steps, Metro and main bus terminus. . The breakfast is the typical European fare, the rooms basic but the staff are fantastic and very helpful

Getting from the airport, DO NOT use the Terravision bus service; the queues are long for the tickets and even longer for the bus. We caught the bus outside the airport to the nearest Metro and then the Metro into Rome. Cheaper and quicker! If you prefer a taxi, do not pay more than €45

The restaurant EDY was recommended within the Lonely Planet and their write up does not do true justice to this nice eatery. We went twice and was never disappointed. Think about reserving a table as it is very popular with the locals.

For good bars and restaurants I would gravitate to the Spanish Steps as the establishments are easy to find and nicer.

nice place

from amatuccia
I arrived in Rome with my wife Sonia having reserved the hotel through by Internet at a good price for a double room always clean at the end of August for four days.staff is fantastic and the place is comfortable.
Breakfast from hotel 4 stars, also fresh fruits and yogurt. will definitly come back! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Hotel saturnia

from Trekitalia
We arrived at the Saturnia actually without a reservation due to a problem with my e-mail.

The man at reception was MOST helpful and looked after us while he sorted out rooms for us. He gave us a map and suggested an itinerary for our brief stay in Rome. We were able to leave our bags and come back.

The double room was a bit small but ok and our daughter's single room was pleasant. For a city centre location it was reasonably priced.

The Saturnia is well located not too near Termini station and within easy walking distance of the Colosseum and other major sites. The area felt safe with lots of eateries neraby.

Breakfast was very good - my husband was pleased to find boiled eggs! - and plenty of everything, juice, good coffee, pleasantly served up.

I would stay here again.

Not a good choice

from Cyberion
According to websites, that Saturnia is 3 star hotel.
I would like to give only one star to this hotel.
Hotel persons are very friendly but the room was terrible in June. We booked that by internet online services and we got very poor room without air condition and we got also shared toilet. Nice.

Excellent hotel for the money

from Vicky101
My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend in May. The room was basic, but clean, cool and adequately equipped with a mini bar, sink and TV. We had gone for a room with a shared bathroom, and the bathroom was great - only shared between 3 or 4 rooms, spotlessly clean, large with a very powerful and hot shower - perfect!

The owner was extremely helpful, pointing out areas of interest and recommending a couple of bars and restaurants.

The area was perfect, walking distance of all the sites of Rome, and the area felt perfectly safe (as safe as you can be in a big city!). We wandered about in the evening coming back from restaurants with no problems at all. It is also walking distance from the Termini which is handy.

I can also recommend if you are flying in with Ryanair, the Terravision coaches which drop you at Termini and pick you up for your flight back - clean, cheap and comfortable.

All in all, a very good hotel for the small amount of money we paid for the room (about £60 per night to include breakfast).

Worst Hotel and it lies!

from cortona
This was probably my worst experience for my whole four months in Europe. We booked the hotel online and by mistake booked the wrong dates. So we get there and they tell us that they don't have our room but they do have another room but it is 20euro more, so we take it. I asked to see the room first but was refused, and the guy at the desk is suck a --- he makes me pay upfront. I know I shouldn't have but I am 21 years old and didn't know at the time.

We get to the room and it is disgusting. The shower is covered in mildew the best are dirty and have actual dirt on them, the bidet is filthy and the floor is dirty, the lock is non-existent and you can see into our room through the space between the two doors. It also smelled so bad; we surmised that it was from the mildew and the heat. After deciding we cannot stay here we tell them we want our money back and that we will not pay the cancellation fee, however after being assured from them we wont they of course did charge me. It was the WORST hotel in the world, I have stayed at some interesting places but never have I been treated so badly. If I can give you one recommendation it is that you never ever stay at this --- whole. They also claim that you will get a balcony but that was no where to be seen. DO NOT stay here!
