Pickpocketing After 4 days in Rome having felt completely safe and no problems, we got on a crowded metro train and just as the doors closed someone squeezed in behind me.The next thing I konw is I could feel his fingers slipping into my front pocket.Fortunately it was empty and I confronted him but he denied what he was doing and I never said much more as I was afraid he may have a knife.We got off at the next stop.Having read numerous times on TA about this it just shows how complacent you can get and forget all you have read.

Chrismas Magic Having been in both summer and winter, I must say I loved Rome at Christmas time. Crisp, cold, sunny days with a magical atmosphere

Colloseum Get there early around about 730am to avoid line ups (opens 830am). This also gives you the chance to take better photos while there is not many people around.Use your coloseum pass to get you into the Roman Forums as it includes it even though they wont remind you that it does. Also get to Vatican early around 7am as the Sistin Chapel is much nicer when the hords of tourist are not around!!
