Historical Traveller Reviews of Rose Garden Palace Hotel
Great hotel, great location
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe hotel is located just of Via Venetto which is a fabulous road with lots of top end restaurants and hotels. It's also in an idela position for sightseeing -Spanish Steps 10 mins, Trevi Fountain 15 mins, Piazza Novona 20 mins.
We had a delux room which was huge (not sure of how big standard size is), bed were very very comfortable and we slept very well. Bathroom was clean and had a great shower. We also had a walk in wardrobe. The rooms was very quiet and we had no street or other noise from round the hotel.
Spa pool was fine for a post walking dip and we also used the sauna and gym (small but good).
Yes breakfast is very good!!! I'ts not huge but everything is fresh, there are lots of choices of cereals, breads and pastries, fruit and hot options.
The bar and reception areas are very nicely decorated, modern but not cold. All round the hotel are pieces of modern art.
The staff were great for locating and making reservations at restaurants (infact they went out of their way to find us somewhere good and still open when we arrived very late after flight delays and were very hungry having not had dinner).
We walked past many other hotels and we both felt ours looked the nicest plus it is just that bit smaller and more friendly. It's still very new and so everything is is good repair and working order.
I don't think we could have chosen better. It is a borderline 5* hotel and a lot cheaper than the Westin Excelsior round the corner. I can't recommend this place enough for a weekend in Rome, really fab place and a great find.
We would definately stay here again.
Breakfast at the Rose Garden Palace
from HolleedsLoved this hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberWonderful full service modern hotel!
from Travelgirl78During the earlier part of our trip, we stayed in small B&Bs which suited our needs perfectly. In Rome, however, it's very nice to come back to a full service, air conditioned, modern hotel, especially after a warm, hectic day full of seeing the sights.
The staff was supremely helpful, with questions regarding taxis, buses, the metro, getting directions, etc. The breakfast was bountiful, probably the most substantial during our entire stay, including eggs, meats, yogurt, cereal, juice, made-to-order cappaccino and expresso, and of course, the delicious pastries.
The room and bed were large, as was the very clean and modern bathroom.
We highly recommend this hotel!
Excellent Boutique Hotel
from casper04Wonderful and Welcome Surprise!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe immediate area around the hotel is quiet. The strongly guarded American Embassy is across the street. You need to only walk a couple of blocks to be right in the heart of things.
The breakfast was more than expected and included hot items--scrambled eggs, bacon, etc. Very good and served in a lovely garden room.
The staff was gracious and even tolerated our attempts at Italian. They need not have because they were fluent in English.
Hope to go back and spend more time at the Rose Garden.
Great Hotel!!!!!!
from NYCshopperNewly Renovated this is an old palace.....Room was very cool.....spacious and airy with high ceilings and white stone tiled bathroom with Venetian accent tiles, bidet, deep tub etc. Beds were very comfortable and the beds had linnen/cotten sheets which I have not slept on in years.....they were great. AC worked well, our room was quiet even though on the second floor and we loved it.
Rose Garden palace is 4 star by all means and we would definitely stay here again upon our return.
Ciao.
would love to return to the rose garden
from milseaina bed of roses!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe staff were really helpful. We had friendly hotel drivers for the transfer to and from the airport, they even played franks sinatra music for us.
The hotel is in a good area opposite a police station and the American embassy, so in other words very safe. A three min walk to via vento and a 10min walk to the Spanish steps, and the shopping district.
We had a huge room, which was clean and tidy. The food in the hotel was fantastic (but expensive) The gym and pool area were also very clean and very relaxing.
If your reading this thinking about staying, I say go for it!! you shouldn't be disappointed!
Not the usual classic 4 star hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberThrough reservationitaly, we got a special minimum stay offer.
We also recommend the restaurant Costanza in Campo De Fiori. Everybody should taste their fabulous entrance.
Top Local Tips for Rome
Crossing the road in rome! Our trip from the airport to the hotel was an adventure. I dont think there are any rules of the road in Rome. There must be no speed limit, no lanes and no parking rules. Crossing the road was like the M4 motorway with lots more scooters and Biks. Basically we found a trick, find a roman/italian crossing the road and follow them, you will find they cross like there is nothing coming just walk safely and carmly across the road I think If you totter and hover at the side of the road it only confuses them! Dont take any notice of the crossings because they dont!
The queuing Get to all attractions as early as you can. The queues can be very long (especially for the colloseum and vatican). There are tour guide touts outside major attractions and it is worth taking these tours if only to jump a lot of the queue. For example, at the Vatican, you have to queue for the Sistine Chapel and then again for the Basilica of St Peter. By joining a tour, you queue for just one attraction and if the tour is already near an entrance, you can join at the front of the queue.
Private car from airport Use the Rose Garden Palace's private car service at 65 euros.
