Lovely Hotel - River Palace, Rome
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe ate in the hotel restaurant one of the evenings of out stay and were more than happy with the food and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is ideally situated for all the main attractions, designer shops and lovely little restaurants, all just a few minutes walk away. In fact during our stay we didn't use any form of transport as we felt every where was within easy walking distance. We would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
great value,great little hotel,great time-OK Great!
from guffinNice hotel, great location
from JGCThe breakfast was your standard hotel buffet fare--breads, pastries, cold meats, cereals, juices. I did notice that the table linens were dirty, as were the jackets the servers wore.
The rooms were smallish, but quiet. The linens were lovely. The rooms were clean and the ceilings in our room were painted with a cloud mural, which was nicely executed. The decor veered toward the Carmela Soprano-ish, but what the hey.
We booked thru last minute and got a good rate. I would probably try some other hotels on future trips to Rome, but would not mind staying here again.
The location is great--near the beautiful Borghese gardens, Piazza del Popolo, etc. Metro station is yards away, and there was a very decent casual restaurant right down the block.
Great little hotel in a great location
from surreylady50Double booked-no room upon arrival!
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe were provided with an alternative hotel that had a better location but, obviously, the problem should not have arisen in the first place.
The hotel later offered to order us a taxi to take us to the railway station at a cost of E35. We ordered our own taxi at a cost of E16.
Perfect location!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThey're very tiny, but lovely. Then again, how much time do you spend in your room while in Rome?? I can't say enough about the staff and the service we received....I must say it was exceptional. I am a travel agent and I must confess that besides being on a cruise ship, there aren't that many hotels I've been to in the past the offered the same service ( remember this is a 4* not a 5* ). The hotel itself is quite petite ( as are most in Rome ), but very lovely, with a very cozy decor.
It's not cheap, but hotels which are dumps, sell for very little less.
The continental bkfst which is included is great considering it's continental. Good variety, great service again. The location of the hotel is perfect!!!
You step out of the front door, hang a right and just walk. You're in the main area of Rome, all the shopping is right there and you can reach the Spanish Steps, among other piazza's in no time. Great to just hang out. The variety of the restaurants nearby is great. Will definitely go back here in the future. Also, you're a 2 minute walk to the underground metro....sooo easy to use and will take you anywhere...we were at the Vatican in less than 20 minutes, including a short walk.
I would recommend the River Palace
from A TripAdvisor MemberLovely hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe did not find the street to be grim , maybe a little lacking in character. Nice hotel though rooms were on the small side. Not made for lounging around in.
The bathroom was very clean and a good size. Breakfast was nice with great capuccinos and cakes. We got a good rate as we travelled in July and I think it was good value.
Lovely Hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe staff is very friendly and helpful.

Metro Tickets We only found out afterwards that the metro ticket also entitles you to ride on the electric buses around the city too.
Fraudster scam- Don't help give anyone in a car directions around Rome-If you do, don't fall for any sob story about running out of petrol and their cards won't work! However genuine it seems, don't part with any cash!Buy an ice cream for yourself instead!
so much to do, so little time well.......................... you can walk around attractions such as piazza novona, piazza de popollo, spanish steps, tevi fountain, pantheon etc with ease in a single stroll. You will need a day alone to explore the colleseum and forum. The same goes for the vatican. dont miss any of the above mentioned........................and there is so much more!!

All in all not an enjoyable stay, we have been back now about two months almost three The Manager refuses to return any emails, Fax's and telephone calls as do their insurance company.
So to sum up, If you have something you treasure or al least like unless you want to carry it around Rome with you, DON'T STAY THERE.
