nothing to complain about

from A TripAdvisor Member
If Quirinale were in some other city, there could be some complaints made about its appearance and upkeep, but in Rome the "old warn-out luxury touch" suited just fine. Because we had triple accommodation, our room was very spacious and comfortable.
Breakfast selections bores the hell out of anyone on day 3, but at least there is a choice, unlike in many other hotels in Italy.
All-in-all, highly recommended, when receieving a bit of a discount as well ;)

Central and convenient

from CX
Very well located, 10 min walk from the train terminal station "Termini" where you arrive from the airport, close to shopping areas (via Nazionale, Piaza di Spagna etc) and major attractions (Piazza Barberini, Via Veneto etc). The room I had was big enough but not recently renovated, old furniture and a very old fashioned door! The bathroom was excellent and spacious, very clean! Breakfast was abudant in quantity and quite good in quality and variety! Reception was a little bit slow and not that warm and helpful!

As Rome should be

from A TripAdvisor Member
We very much enjoyed our stay in Hotel Quirinale. Our rooms were large with a sitting area and the decor was old world ornate--lovely drapes, beautiful framed mirrors, Beautifully framed pictures of old Rome on the walls, and wonderful chandelers. We all thought it was just the kind of hotel one would want in Rome. Not just the average Holiday Inn. For those who have given bad reviews I can only think that there must be some inferior floors. On our floor the halls were lovely and all our rooms, though slightly different were elegant with very large bathrooms. It was also very clean. There is a huge lounge with grand piano that a musician plays every evening. The included breakfast was wonderful and beautifully served in the dining room. The staff was helpful and arranged a wonderful private tour for 6 of us that made it possible for us to see more than we could have ever seen on our own or on a large group tour. We would all love to stay here again.

Great service!

I was there with my wife and 2 other couples the last week of December, 2004, and first 2 days of January, 2005. We thoroughly enjoyed the location, the attentiveness of the staff, the ambiance. The breakfast was first class. I could easily blow my diet on the homemade bread/rolls. The coffee was outstanding. We tried eating supper one night and thought the prices were too high and the portions too small. A $50 fish dinner had only 4 bites of fish. I recommend this hotel and would go back again. I would probably not eat at the restaurant other than for breakfast. They were helpful in booking tours and giving directions. This hotel was booked by AAA.

do not meet our expectation

from A TripAdvisor Member
I and a friend took two single rooms at this hotel in late October of 2004. While it is advertised as four star hotel and listed in the World Hotel directory as luxuary property, it simply is not. The lobby is all right and so is the small breakfast room. The location is in down town but you can not compare the area it is located to other better area such as Spanish Steps, Piazza Verona, or Via Veneto, etc, etc..

The most disappointed thing about this hotel is the room and the general condition of the hotel, corridor, and elevator. The room is beyond small, with let down wooden floor which made noise when you walk. The corridor need new paint badly. And, overall it is a two and a half star and certainly not four star.

We will not stay there again.

Classic Italian Style

from Ageing_Fast
We stayed 4 nights, 24-27/10/2004 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We took the "Terravision" coach from Ciampino Airport to Termini Railway Station which is a convenient 40 minute journey (get your tickets in the airport or in advance from the web site, 13.5€ return). Once you have your bearings the hotel is only a 10 minute walk with cases but there are a lot of roads to cross. The check in was fast and efficient and we found the service throughout the hotel fitted this description. They were not over friendly but they were certainly not unpleasant in any way. After successfully negotiating the old style lift (quirky but an experience!) we were pleased with the classical style of our 4th floor room. It was a good size with chandelier, period furniture, and decor, a pleasant change to the bog standard chain hotels and right in character with the rest of Rome. It came complete with TV, mini bar and hairdryer although the safe was extra. Although the genuine wooden floors creaked quite badly it only seemed to add to the authenticity. It was in good decorative order and we were lucky in that our room overlooked the inner garden and was incredibly quiet. The bathroom was two thirds black and red marble with an enormous free standing bath with shower over. The air conditioning was easy to use but not powerful and it barely coped with the Autumn weather although considering the time of year it was equivalent to an English summers day! We saw no sign of any renovation throughout the hotel as mentioned by other writers on Trip Advisor. The breakfast was of an average European standard and again the staff dealt efficiently with table clearing and keeping the buffet well stocked. Checkout was again very fast and the final tariff was right first time, a pleasant change! The location was excellent for everything, we went in Ristorante del Giglio just around the corner at 137 Via Torino, great meal, great service would highly recommend. Also very good value meals at the modern decor Jazz Cafe near Piazza Navona (6€ in a taxi from the hotel) with live music that dosn't realy get started till late, they also have a cheap lunchtime menu. For a romantic candle-lit meal try Ristorante Quirino 30m away from the Trevi Fountain, considering its location we thought 80€ all in with wine was good value and the food and drink were top quality. We had a great half term break in Rome and were very happy with our choice of accommodation at the Hotel Quirinale. When next in Rome....We'll Be Back!

Nice but not as good as expected

from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel is very pleasant, but not nearly as luxurious as I expected. The room was large, with a roomy sitting area and was spotlessly clean - the bathroom was also large. The decor and furniture is ornate and not to my taste, but good quality. There are good amenities and decent food available in the hotel.

I've stayed at a a number of hotels in Italy and would describe this as below average for it's 4 star rating. The location is good but I would personally recommend staying in the historical centre of the city.

from NICK
great position on one of Rome's main shopping roads , old fashioned comfort , slightly shabby , high ceilings etc , trattoria round the corner good value

Rome Wedding Reception - Fantastic

from A TripAdvisor Member
I had my wedding reception in the Quirinale Hotel in June. It was fantastic, Barbara the wedding co-ordinator, couldn't do enough for us. She organised my whole wedding reception, transport etc. The room was beautiful, the food gorgeous, the service excellent. I had no faults with the Hotel at all, they made my day fantastic.
We had our appetizer in the garden, and then had our meal in the ball room. Could not recommend this Hotel enough for a Wedding Reception or stay.
Rooms are beautiful.

I have stayed here twice already...

from Marita0522
and I have not been disappointed. The Hotel is immaculately clean, comfortable and central to all the main attractions. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A lovely buffet style breakfast is included which is quite good (has hot and cold dishes). I would recommend this hotel to anyone without any reservations whatsoever.

Top Local Tips for Rome

san giglio via torino off via nazionale. Superb and extremely helpful and knowledgable staff,we had a terrific meal at very acceptable price,in other words well within our price range ,and were really cheap!!!!!!

map and water Must have for walking around in the summer: a good city map and a bottle of water for each person. I found myself drinking water CONSTANTLY.

Avoid the lines *Get the rome card, go straight to the colliseum and avoid a long line. *Take a tour group to the vatican, yes you pay more, but then ditch them and go on your own, it will seem expensive till you get there and see the line around the walls. If you stay with the group, they will try to drag you to the gift shop at the end. Avoid it, take the metro back to your hotel using your roma pass. Explore *Go to the palentine hill EARLY morning for a pleasent and tourist free walk through the ruins, its amazing. * Spanish steps were a dissapointment *Trevi fountain is incredible
