Great Hotel!!

This is a great hotel; friendly staff, great breakfast, clean room and pretty convenient if you take the bus and the subway system. We stayed there a week and never had a problem getting anywhere using public transport even in the night. The bus to Cornelia bus station #446 runs until midnight and #994 to Cornelia bus station runs until 10 pm. Then the Metro runs until 10 pm but after that they have the metro bus lines that take the place of the metro. So travelling was not a problem at all. Daily it took us about 25 minutes to get to the city center. The breakfast in the hotel is excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned daily and it always smelled good. We travel around the world alot and this was one of the best hotels we've stayed at. I would fully recommend this hotel to anyone. It's worth the price!!

Historical Traveller Reviews of Pineta Palace Hotel

Unfriendly and rude

from cookielovesrayray
The most unfriendly, grumpiest people work at the front desk. Except for one man, they all seem to hate the very fact that they have to serve people. "Who the hell are you" attitude runs very deeply among these unfriendly Italians. Too many questions will definitely tip their boats. Our roon wasn't ready for the check in. We had to wait around for 40 min. but no apology. I will never come back to this place.

just got back from Pineta Palace in Italy....

Just got back from staying in the Pineta Palace in Rome and myself and the 2 other people i travelled with were very disappointed with the hotel. Before leaving for Rome i had read some of the reviews on this site so felt a bit prepared, and i must say that the rooms are comfortable and housekeeping is very good. The down side was that the hotel reception staff were incredably rude and unhelpful - and they seemed unorganised and reluctant to help you with anything (i.e. giving you advice/help or ordering taxis etc) - this made us feel very uneasy and uncomfortable throughout our stay. No matter how many reviews i read on here before my stay - i was not prepared for the way the staff behaved. Im glad we only stayed there for 4 nights, any longer would have driven us mad! The taxi's do cost €15 for a single trip to the city centre - but between the 3 of us that was €5 each - about £3.50, so i didnt think that was too bad. Much much cheaper than London cabs for sure! We payed quite a lot to stay here, and didnt think it was worth the money we payed, and the hotel is certainly not 4* standard. Next time id rather pay a bit more for a hotel in the centre of Rome and have excellent service.

look elsewhere...

TOOO far away from ANYTHING you would want to see in rome... very limited shuttle service, not near public transportation. Surrounding area has very few options for dining and shoppings. Very unfriendly and cold desk staff, unwilling to help with most things.

Just stayed in the Pineta Palace hotel, located in a residential neighborhood. It is no where near public transportation. Took E15.00 taxi rides to town center each day. Will stay somewhere more convient next time.

Pineta Palace, too far from city center

from A TripAdvisor Member
I enjoyed the hotel, breakfast was very good, rooms are average. This place is quite noisy, appears to have little sound insulation in walls or doors. Location is a real problem for me. It difficult to get to, using the bus 994, bus driver left us off about 1/3 mile away from the hotel. People we encountered did not speak English, therefore we had a serious problem finding the hotel the 1st time. The idea of having a good easy connections to the hotel is nonsense. They did have a shuttle to downtoown, it worked well the first night, but failed to pick us up the 2nd nite, we were required to get a cab and had the hotel pay for it. Best bet is choose a hotel closer to the city center. If this hotel were closer to the center of Rome, it would be much more acceptable.

Excellent Staff and very friendly hotel

I have to disagree with some of the comments. The staff were more than helpful and polite. The rooms were clean and average. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and I would say this is an excellent value for money hotel.

Book something else

If you have booked into this hotel try and cancel asap it is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff on reception are rude, uncooperative and extremely arrogant. The rooms are clean and kept that way by the maids, but the walls/ceilings are so thin you can hear conversations of people 2 rooms away! - not joking. After 5 mornings of being woken at 4.30am by the people upstairs who seems to be moving every piece of furniture about (if your put in room 518 watch out) we asked reception to speak to them at 5.45am, we were informed that they were residents of the hotel and they would have a word - 45 mins later still the same. Complainted again 7.00am - still nothing!! It wasn't until we demanded to see the Manager that we were promised another room.

Would never recommend this hotel to anyone

All I can say is budget budget

Humm where to start with this place...I think that if we hadn't read the reviews before coming we would have been really disappointed. We were going through a tour group so our hotels were picked out by them when we got to rome we took a taxi which there was 4 of us and it cost us 70 euro...definatly the thing to do. Very far away and we had 4 big pieces of luggage. I think this hotel spent all their money on the interior of the, when you walk into the room u find two twin short beds and a bathroom the size of most peoples closets. The toilet was descriped correctly in another review it is almost impossible to sit down on it cause of the GIANT sink lol, (dont leave anything on the sink that you wouldn't want toliet water to spash up on) they must have super flush kits in europe not parents were in the next room and i could hear them talking so beware what you say :) walls are very thin...the one thing i can say is they had a decent breakfast.

Very nice hotel

Very nice hotel. Outside of town, but they have a shuttle service to and from town 3 times a day. Walls may be thin, but serive is good and staff wanting to please. Also, very good restaurant. Would stay here again.

A very friendly hotel, a pleasure to stay at!

We stayed in Pineta palace for a week and enjoyed every bit of it! The staff were very friendly and helpful! The hotel was a bit out of the way of the city central, but the hotel offer an excellent shuttle bus to downtown which was very cheap and very reliable! The hotel rooms were basic but all you really need! We found with all the sites to see in Rome, we hardly spent much time in our room anyway! The food was very nice and not overly expensive! All in all, we couldnt find a fault with it! We'd happily go back to Pineta Palace again!

Top Local Tips for Rome

Colosseum gladiators exploit tourists. When you go to the Colosseum and see the striking Gladiators all robed up ( they do look amazing) always insist on the price a photo with them will cost you before you get out your Camera...they like you to bata so enjoy!! Otherwise you can end up paying between 10 /20 euros just for the pleasure of their compant for one shot!!!

how much do you care about the Sistine Chapel? At the vatican, the square, the bascillica, and the crypt are FREE to all visitors. There is a line (maybe 30-45 minutes on the long side) to get into the bascillica and crypt, but as long as you are dressed appropriately (no shorts for men; covered knees and sholders for women) there is no charge. Now, what isn't free is seeing the Sistine Chapel, which is inside the Vatican Museum. To see that, you must get in a very long line (we waited 2 hours) in the hot sun and wait with hoards of people, then pay 13 Euro for access to the Museum, then work your way through tons and tons of rooms and stairwells, until you finally get to the Sistine Chapel, which is stuffy, noisy, and not as impressive as one would have thought! Had I realized all this before going, I would have skipped the Sistine Chapel and the Museum all together!

pic pocket and thieves do not let your guard down. this amazing city will capture you, and you may loosen your grip on your bag. it will be gone. wear a belly band, not a pouch, and keep it under your clothes. make sure your knapsack has not only zippers, but buckles. the harder to get in to, the better. do not display what you have, try to use bank machines not in busy areas. do not buy from the guys set up on the ground, or carrying their goods. it is against the law to buy from these guys. A fine as high as 10,000 euros if you do not have a receipt for any purchase. These goods are manufactured in Mafia run factories, and are not the real thing. You shoud see them run when the "police look out" gives his special whistle. We stood beside a local girl and her husband waiting for our tables at a restaruant in a quiet and safe neighborhood, when a scooter sped past, and ripped her purse off her shoulder. do not forget to eat gelata, and lots of it. don't worry, the red wine will unclog your arteries
