I guaranteed my reservation with my American Express card. Upon arrival, the hotel informed me they did not accept credit cards and I would have to pay in cash or shop around for another hotel. I did access a nearby ATM and paid them. The room was very small and was extremely noisy, and not clean.

Top Local Tips for Rome

Be careful of taxi drivers in Rome If you are on a budget...use the shuttle bus from the airports. Although the government has put up a notice to fix the rate from airport to city centers...the taxi drivers does not seem to comply with them. So, as a tip...the rate from Fiumicino / Ciampino airports to city center should not be more than EUR50.

Roma Pass Buy a Roma Pass at almost any tourist kiosk ( there is one at the Metro Station ). We didn't have to worry about buying any subway or bus tickets for anywhere we wanted to go in Rome and the surrounding outlying areas. Plus we got a deal on 2 tourist attractions. There is a Roma Pass equivalent for other major cities in italy as well. Well worth it.
