A Return Trip To The Charming Hotel Parlamento

I will say that this was my third trip back to the Hotel Parlamento, and it was fabulous. nThe construction has finished and everything was very beautiful. The Chini family was so very kind to us. My mother had gotten sick on our overseas flight,Tiziano and the guys made sure she was well taken care of whether it was the ice she needed,a cup of Tea,they did it with such graciousness and kindness.I consider them part of my family now after this las trip. The Hotel Parlamento is what is goood in Rome. A nice respite from the big city of Rome. Like I have said before a charming hotel with 5 star quality at 2 star prices. If you like charming, quaint, friendly, and yes clean then this is the place for you. But if you want stuffy cold 5 star hotel then you need to find another place. I will be returning again soon, and I will be staying here again. So if you consider them tell them that I sent you(karen from new Orleans)This hotel is as enchanting as Rome. I hope your stay is as nice as mine have been.

I heard wonderful things about the Parlamento but was kind of disappointed. Upon arrival we had to walk through a construction zone and carry our bags up a couple flights of stairs... with no assistance from the front desk staff. The room was dingy, with old wallpaper and bedding and you cant be the sound of power drills from downstairs upon you arrival! The bathroom was tiny, even by European standards. Upon booking the room we were told it included AC, but the front desk man said it was "broken", later to find out its just too loud and we really could use it. Upon check out once again no assitance down the stairs, even though they could clearly see our struggle. If I have one nice thing to say it is that the hotel is convenient, right off the Corso and close to Trevi and the Spanish Steps, but I would have walked 10 miles to get to those things and not be in such a hole.

One could now ask for a better, more convenient location or a friendlier, more accommodating staff. While the rooms are small, the rooftop terrace provides a wonderful view, fresh air and it is the perfect place to relax with wine in the evening. The family who runs will take very good care of you. Another big plus is the value. I don't think you could find a better place for the money. I hope to return soon.

A Hotel With Alot More Charm than a 5 str Hotel!

I have stayed at the Hotel Parlamento twice now, and will be returning in 2-3 years. The Chini family is always so accommodating and polite. They will set up everything for you and always with a smile and graciousness. I love how they always ask where you are going to make sure it is an ok spot, almost like a protectiveness, and when there are two women traveling, that is a plus. I love the little breakfast room (sitting area),and the breathtaking balconies. I can even put up with the small showers in some of the rooms(at least the water is always hot),because lets face it when in Rome who wants to spend all their time in the room. I look forward to returning to Roma in a couple of years, it will be like I am returning home to my special friends. So if you are looking for a charming hotel with wonderful people try the Hotel Parlamento out, just tell them the lady from New Orleans sent you. Ciao!

Historical Traveller Reviews of Parlamento Hotel

In the heart of Rome

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed here last April, and it is perfect to navigate all of Rome. The staff was helpful and pleasant. There is no place you can't get to on foot from here. Once you get past how you enter the hotel, the rest of the experience will be delightful. We will be back to this pensione.

t have much time in Rome, stay here

from soladiamante
If you don't have much time in Rome, stay here, as it is very conveniently located. The service was great, but the room we had was the smallest of all the rooms we stayed in during our 17 day trip in Italy. On our next trip, we'll stay outside of the city center a bit, perhaps in the Travestere area, where the pace seems to be a bit slower and there are fewer cars and less noise pollution.

A True Pensione

from A TripAdvisor Member
Front desk clerks were either great or terrible, depending on the shift. This is a pensione, not a hotel. Small rooms, which could be cleaner. The elevator is one flight of steps up, then another flight of steps to the rooms after checking in. There was no help with baggage, which made it a chore.

Breakfast was adequate. Location is centrl to all the attractions. The roof garden is nice. You get what you pay for at this hotel. Next time I would spend more money for a better room.

I stayed at the Hotel Parlamento September 21st for 4 nights and it was perfect. The room was nice and well kept, the service was GREAT and the location was perfect. Not to mention the price was very reasonable. I couldn't have asked for anything better. I would definintely stay here again if I ever came back to Rome. =)

Great Location

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Parlamento for 3 nights in September, based on the reviews that we'd seen here. We were not disappointed - the location was great and the service was very good. We had one of the rooms which opens onto the roof and we enjoyed having our breakfast al fresco! We'd definitely stay here again next time we're in Rome.

highly recommended

Highly recommended. We have been their for 6 nights at may 2004. The location is perfect. can't be better. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. The rooms are very clean. They have a nice sunroof for breakfast.
All the rooms have A.C. with extra charge.
Ask for a quiet room. Some rooms are not. so you need the A.C. for the night. We got it for free because of the nouse.

My family was in Rome for 3 nights in June, and the Hotel Parlamento was superb. As many reviewers have said, what a great location. All of the sites in the old city are within easy walking distance, and there was never a need for a taxi, bus or subway.
The rooms were clean and nicely appointed. The staff was great. My parents had stayed at the Hotel Parlamento a few nights the week before, and they were able to leave some of the luggage and non-essentials (ie: 5 litres of Sicilian olive oil) while they joined us in Tuscany for a week. Giorgio and the rest were fabulous, whether it was recommending a local neighborhood trattoria or arranging for a limo to the airport, they were excellent.
I would certainly recommed staying at the Hotel Parlamento, and will happily return on my next trip to Italy.

Great Experience!

from virginialyn
We just returned from our trip to Rome and our stays (2 times--3 days before and 2 days after a cruise) at the Parlamento. The location is great, the rooms are very clean and well-kept (small by American standards, but about the same as other hotels outside the US), and the people who worked there were very friendly and very helpful in every way.

We would definitely stay there again if we should ever go back to Rome. It's a very good value for the location.

Just right for us!

from Cherieatl
My husband and I stayed here for a week in late May of this year (2004). We came to Rome to celebrate my 60th birthday.

This friendly little Pension is right in the middle of everything! We walked to Trevi, The Spanish Steps, The Pantheon..even the Vatican.

Our room opened to the roof garden. This was the perfect place for breakfast or to have an evening glass of wine. There was also a very small breakfast room and you could purchase water, wine and sodas at a reasonable price.

Our room was small but very clean and furnished adequately. We enjoyed having the room safe. The bath was fine as well. We had a shower only, and it was just a bit cramped getting in and out but other than that it was fine. The room was cleaned every day and fresh towels supplied, glasses washed and that sort of thing.

We found the staff to be very friendly and most helpful with suggestions, reservations, tours. We would definitely recommend Hotel Parlamento to friends and family and to anyone wanting a small inn with good ambiance and friendly service that is almost perfectly located in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
