Location is excellent--we often did and hopefully will soon again walk to just about everything from here. It's close to public transportation and the tourist hop-on, hop-off, too. Staff are friendly and accommodating, both at reception and in the restaurant, which serves delicious, basic meals. The bartender Mario makes the best cappuccino in the world, has great stories and lots of tips for getting around the city. Rooms are warm-toned and quite cozy.

Reasonable 3star Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed in The Hotel Oxford during February 2006 for 4 days and found it comfortable , clean and in an ideal location. Room was cleaned each morning, Breakfast was fine (although cooked breakfast is extra expense).
Spanish steps are a 15 min walk, all other sights are within a few mins walk of steps, including shops and restaurants. Other hotels in the same area are more expensive, I'd stay here again.

Good value, very clean,

from Digit
We stayed here in January 2005. The good things: Clean, very comfortable rooms. Rooms made up every day to a good standard. bathrooms spotless. Breakfast filling with lots to choose from. Excellent value for money.
The bad things: staff very slow, we were told that our bags would be brought to our room in five minutes - 30 minutes later still no bags, so I went and got them myself. Even though there was three staff members in reception who just watched me pick them up. Also breakfast very busy and i gave up on waiting for a cup of tea. it was also a long walk to main attractions, but a nice walk.

I would stay again though.

Good quality hotel, but slightly off the beaten path

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I stayed at this hotel during the last week of August in 2004. Our room was clean and had all the basic ammenties; the staff were friendly and helpful; the free breakfast was good (loved the chocolate croissants!). Overall we had no complaints about the hotel itself. The only (minor) issue was that it wasn't as close to things as we had hoped. But, we were still able to most places - the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and the Termini in about 10-20 minutes.

An Unexpected Treasure

from SunitaVancouver
We stayed at the Oxford just before Christmas. Not having been to Italy before and having been at the receiving end of some Roman horror stories, we were not sure what to expect. However, the Oxford was a treasure. Our room was fairly large, with a tiny yet romantic balcony and a beautiful view of via Boncompagni; the bathroom was spotless; and the hotel staff were extremely helpful, particularly when giving directions and transit information.
The Oxford is centrally located, though it is not, alas, a mere "stroll" from the Spanish Steps. It is, however, about 10 minutes away from a metro line that took us to all the sights, and various buses stop about 100 meters away from the hotel. The neighbourhood is safe and generally peaceful, and we had few qualms about walking back late at night. An added bonus was walking along gorgeous via Veneto and admiring the upscale hotels and restaurants.
We fell in love with Rome and staying at the Oxford certainly helped us feel comfortable in this glorious city. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

This hotel was chosen on the basis of previous traveller comments and on the description posted on the web-site. Overall the room was bijout, clean and comfortable. Reception staff were reasonably helpful but not over attentive. Bar staff were extremely customer friendly, remembering the previous evening's drinks order etc. The hotel was well positioned close to the centre and sights.

A note of caution however, the web-site advised us that there were extensive leisure facilities, including a heated indoor swimming pool.THERE ARE NO SUCH FACILITIES. Reception staff advised that they had only provided the details to the web-site designer..... A large party booked into the restaurant on our only visit. The result was poor service and an appalling meal e.g. we were offered two plates of chips 10 minutes after we had finished the main course, as a "gift".

Needs to consider the web-site description, and allow for busy nights in the resaurant.

Best Hotel, Best People

from A TripAdvisor Member
My wife, my 2 year old daughter and I stayed at the Oxford Hotel in Rome. It was the best vacation experience I have ever had. Being in the military I have had the opportunity to experience various places and people in Europe and this hotel and its staff made Rome a wonderful experience. They provided us a map of the city and tour information without any added pressure you sometimes recieve at the larger hotels. The staff, especially the servers in the restaurant, made over our daughter and treated us so well. Check out time from the hotel is 12 pm, but our flight wasn't leaving until 5:30pm that evening. They allowed us to store our luggage at the hotel after we checked out so we could squeeze some more sightseeing in before we left and arranged a car to pick us up at the same cost of the cab that brought us from the airport to the hotel on the day we arrived. The hotel is well within walking distance of the Hard Rock Cafe (dont get the boneless chicken) and the Spanish steps. Each is less than a 10-12 block walk from the hotel. The hotel restaurant serves great food as well! I am so thankful to the Oxford for making our family vacation as best as it possibly could be.

small is better

from A TripAdvisor Member
A small but clean hotel. It is found quiet far from a lot of the main attractions, but it is located on a small quiet street, and within a 10-15 min bus ride you can get to the main tourists sites. The staff are friendly, and guests seem to lean toward more family types ie. very quiet. I would stay there again.

Clean and nice

from PaulBz
The Hotel Oxford was a welcome stop on our 2 week Italy trip. Clean and modern (in Italian terms) with narrow hallways, a scary set of stairs but overall, very nice and great value. On the downside, it's about 4 blocks away from any decent cafes. But only about a 10 minute walk to the famed Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. The staff are friendly and spoke perfect English. Rooms are fine and good size. We walked everywhere so bring your walking shoes. Out of the 4 hotels we stayed in Italy (three were 3 star and one was 4 star) this was the nicest. If you don't mind walking a lot.... this is perfectly fine.

Small but good

from A TripAdvisor Member
Hotel Oxford was the first place we stayed in Italy. Though the rooms were small and a bit noisey (might ask for a room that does not face the street), they were nice and clean. Location was good as well.

Excellent Hotel, no Faults!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I got married in Rome last August and stayed at the Oxford hotel. It was a fantastic hotel, very clean and close to all major tourist spots in Rome. From the minute we arrived (a party of 30 people accompanied us) we enjoyed ourselves. Everything was perfect. The staff were very helpful at organising a limo, a restuarant, photographer etc. Flavio at reception did alot for us and a great "Thank you" to him. Also, Max at the bar definitely made our wedding one to remember. One thing is for sure we will definitely go back some day to Rome and if we do it will be to Hotel Oxford!!!
