A Perfect Charming Hotel

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Ottocento Hotel, it was absolutely charming. The Delux rooms are larger than standard european rooms clean and modern and the bathroom with jacuzzi bath was styish. Cleaning standards very high and the continental breakfast was more than adequate
A great location all the sights are walkable (even the vatican!).
The staff are all kind and pleasant. Wouldn't hesitate to use this hotel again or recommend it to anyone.
Enjoy your stay there!!

Perfect in Every Regard

from Avid_Traveler
Recently returned from a 5 night stay at the Albergo (Hotel) Ottocento. Had a corner room on the top floor. Room was very lovely -- with two large windows that extended to the floor, from the comfy beds to the modern granite jacuzzi bathroom. Bathroom was large for European standards. Small shuttered window and fog free mirror in the bathroom was a nice touch. Water pressure from the shower head was excellent!!! Can't recommend it enough.

Included breakfast buffet choices were ample, which included a hot breakfast of eggs and bacon as well as ham, cheese, various pastries, croissants, rolls, toast. jams, fruit and cheeses.

Conveniently and centrally located to all the sights -- a short ten minute walk to the Spanish Steps, 15-20 minutes to the Pantheon. Closest metro stop is at Barberini station, just a two minute walk from the hotel. Hotel is located on a quiet side street, away from the bustle and noise. Vatican City is a 15 minute train ride from Barberini. Colosseum also about 15 minutes away by train.

Very Nice

Very nice hotel with an excellent location. The staff was very helpful. The room we had was on the small side and our travel partner's was even smaller. This was expected considering the price and location. Very clean. I would stay there again, but would inquire about a larger room. One block walk to beautiful Via Veneto.

In early October, 2004, we spent three nights at this small, luxurious hotel, located off Via Sistina, near Piazza Barberin, and within walking distance of most major sights, an excellent location. There is a lovely restaurant in the hotel where a buffet breakfast is served every morning (included with room) and dinner in the evening. In addition, with prior reservation, dinner can served on a beautiful little roof patio. We were very impressed with the friendly welcome and assistance of the front desk staff. We enjoyed our stay here very much!

A+ in all aspects

from larryco
A+ in every way. I am an experienced traveller and often discouraged by the small, noisy and expensive rooms in Europe. This hotel is on a very quiet street, yet in a wonderful location (8 minute walk to Trevi fountain and 8 minutes the other way to Spanish Steps). The room and bathroom were both adequately sized and good looking. Completely quiet and able to blackout all light in the morning. Extremely friendly and efficient front desk staff. Room was approximately U.S. $280/night -- good value, I think (included breakfast).

Fabulous Hotel

We stayed at the Ottocento for our second visit to Rome and loved it.

It is hidden down a side street away from the hustle and bustle yet it's convenient for all the major sights that beautiful Rome has to offer.

The room that we stayed in was not large but it was elegant, understated and clean. We adored the small but perfectly formed bathroom and even the jacuzzi function actually got some use.

The hotel was a welcoming haven after a day of trotting round the centro storico, and a great place to unwind before venturing out again in the evening.

We found the staff helpful, friendly and characterful and they made our stay hassle-free.

In short - a great place to stay.

The best choice!

Excellent choice

We recently stayed at this hotel for 6 nights and were very pleased. The location is not far from the Spanish Steps and near the Barberini Metro and Via Veneto. The room, though not large, was clean and quite adequate. Lovely, modern bathroom. Nice selection of food fo breakfast. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. We had an excellent rate through Orbitz.

Top Local Tips for Rome

trastevere do not dine out in central rome, retreat to trastevere instead. there are a lot of tourist-robbing establishments there as well, but much better chance to buy decent food for decent money

Vatican Museum The queue for the VM was horrendous, approx 2 hrs. If you book a tour through the Vatican you will be sent an appointment and then you wont have to queue atall. it costs 10 euros more but well worth it and you get a guide. Lasts 2 hrs.

Colloseum When there, go to the Forum and buy a ticket which includes entry to the Colloseum. This way you will not have to queue there.
