Tours Definately book yourself on a tour for the Vatican - there is so much to see and a guide will only help you enjoy it more. We used Viators and really enjoyed it. We went in Feb and there were 7 of us in the tour group = ideal.
ROME: GET AN A to Z or SUFFER Rome is a great place, of course. We were therfe in February and there were still crowds, albeit mostly Italian, which wass nice. WORD TO THE WISE: invest in a proper A to Z map, with BUSES if you can. the tourist maps are LOUSY, no matter where they come from - and they only benefit their advertisers... It is impossible to find your way around, street to street, with even Frommers or Lonely Planet - again LOUSY maps. Get a proper one - your feet and brain will thank you.

Interior shabby in places,breakfast certainly not of 4 star standard. In October bar facilities not available and management refused to switch on heating when cold. No in-room facilities for hot drinks.
Centrally located but does not live up to 4 star rating.
