station. The staff was friendly and courteous and the surrounding streets were reasonable. The lobbies etc. are very neat and clean. The single room was a bit cramped especially the bathroom, but everything was functional. There are a number of inexpensive places to eat nearby. I had some trouble finding the hotel from the train station and my map of Rome was not very useful. Other than that I am extremely pleased with my experience and would recommend the hotel.

Top Local Tips for Rome
Nice time in Rome Buy tickets for the Colloseum a the Palentina and get 2 for 1. Avoid the lines at the Colloseum. Take the # 40 bus to the Vatican and hook up with cheap tours for 20 Euro. Go very early or very late. Meet 2pm on Mon and Tues by the Egyptian Obique to see Mike. He was great. Eating is expensive, check the cover charge before you order. Drinking essprsso at the counter is less than a a table. I did a 1 day trip to Pompei and MT. Vs by train and local metro. I only saved a bout 25 euro. I would just take a tour for 100 Euro for the day. It cost me about 75 on my own. Shop on side streets near Trevi fountain for prices 1/2 that of the main drag.
Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel We booked a reservation to see the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museums through the Vatican website. We printed the reservation form for our 2 hour tour (29 Euro each). Instead of waiting in the huge line to enter Vatican city, we went to the front of the line, showed our reservation form, and were escorted right in. It was a huge time saver and worth every penny. As for the Museums, I don't suggest going when you are jet-lagged, as it is hard to concentrate on so many pieces. For the 2 hour museum tour, that means 2 FULL hours of tour, then they leave you in the Sistine Chapel, so I would plan on 2.5 hours at least. Then, instead of going back to the main entrance, you can leave from the side door of the chapel, which exits you right near the elevator to go up to the top of St. Peter's Dome. The elevator only takes you so far, then it is a winding walk up many stairs, and the walls get more curved and skinnier as you go. This is not something I would recommend for anyone overweight.
hop on/off tour buses very good value and a excellant way to see the main sights! two day passes are worth it and you get a free city guide which is such a help

Good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Room lighting dim and no alarm clock.
