Room clean, no carpet, beds firm, quiet room, easy access (2 blocks) to train/subway/bus/taxi. Good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Room lighting dim and no alarm clock.

The Mariano staff was extremely helpful! They gave wonderful directions and welcomed us as family. The hotal was in prime location - to attractions and the train station. Our rooms were classical Rome - marble floors, windows that open to the street, high ceilings. Facilities are basic, but what more do you need? You are in Rome to see the city - not lounge at a hotel! I highly recommend this hotel to the budget traveler who expects the basics in a nice situation.

Excellent value in a central location

The Mariano provides excellent value for the money. The hotel is slightly less than a KM from the main Rome train station. The staff was friendly and courteous and the surrounding streets were reasonable. The lobbies etc. are very neat and clean. The single room was a bit cramped especially the bathroom, but everything was functional. There are a number of inexpensive places to eat nearby. I had some trouble finding the hotel from the train station and my map of Rome was not very useful. Other than that I am extremely pleased with my experience and would recommend the hotel.
