Top Local Tips for Rome
A Must see! There is a hidden church right by the Pantheon in a little square to the left of it called Santa Maria de Minerva. It doesn't look like anything from the outside, but it is simply breathtaking inside. It is up there with St Peters and a real must! A very emotional experience!
don't get ripped off make sure you find out how much a taxi fare is before you travel, we were ripped off by a taxi driver who charged us 20 euros more than he should, so be careful. A great way to see the sights is to get on a Hop on Hop off tour bus, they are great value for money and a sure way for you not to miss anything, earplugs are included and you can jump off at any sight and catch another one at any time along the way during the day.
Eating Watch out for the extras they add to restaurant bills - charged 7 euros for dry bread put on table. Also if you can try to eat at the bar, sitting down makes even a cup of tea and a croissant cost over 12 euros. Also careful when handing money over to people stating they will give you a guided around attraction, it might be the last you see of them and your money.
