Top Local Tips for Rome
Vatican museum We queued like everyone else in the early morning for a very long time (last week in May) but when we came out we saw that there was no queue at all. My tip is to go later at this time of year.
MRSUITCASE PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS VERY CHEAP
Coloseum/Palatino/Basilica Unless you know your Roman history you will need a guide/tour of the Coloseum and nearby Palatino. Look for those that provide walkie-talkies. We had really good guide for Palatino called Eugine - a history student - not sure if able to publicise his details here but feel free to email. He did Vatican tour too. Good map useful - but get to grips with walking as most things in easy reach.
