Hotel Isa
from WassermannOur room on the corner of the 5th floor was clean and bright with windows that allowed for a nice breeze. The bathrooms were nice and well maintained and we would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend this hotel to others.
One caveat though. The fifth floor, especially the rooms from 500-505 are right under the rooftop breakfast patio and the sound of scraping chairs begins promptly at 730AM. This wasn't a problem for us, but if you are not an early riser and a light sleeper, this may be an issue to consider.
Ideal location
from A TripAdvisor MemberLocation is ideal. In four days we saw most of the sights in the city and walked everywhere.
We would go back to the ISA
Small but beautifully marked!
from RmarshPTyneWearGood tourist base.
from BramSheffield_UK_Very good location for sights, smallish room but clean, tidy, decent breakfasts, friendly staff and 8 mins walk from Lepanto underground Station!
Would return.
Great hotel, great location, great value
from NJNormanWould definitely recommend staying there.
Very satisfied at Isa
from heeljeffI saw inside the room next door and was not impressed. Very simple...small with two single beds. Hotel was in a decent part of town. Safe feeling, and near the vatican and cola di rienzo.
Not cheap at 250 euro a night, but we were more than happy and would return to this Hotel if room 509 is available.
Great place to stay!
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe highly recommend this hotel.
Good Location
from A TripAdvisor MemberHighly Recommended
from A TripAdvisor MemberThis hotel had everything you could ask for and was reasonably priced.
The rooms were cool and spacious and location good for the vatican and within easy access via Metro or walk to most of the attractions.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful and the breakfast was very nice with plenty of variety.
Great place to visit Rome
from doascWe arrived around 1 PM. The staff was quick to get our room ready so we could rest after the red-eye flight to europe. The staff spoke GOOD english and was helpful in everything we asked (directions, taxi, tours, etc). We had two triples and the rooms were large, comfortable and looked like the pictures on their website. We ranked their breakfast as one of the best we experienced. They would change the menu daily, but would accomodate any request (cold Chocolate Milk!!).
For us the location is ideal. It is one block away from a major bus end stop. There were a number of really good restaurants within a few blocks, ATM on the corner, high quality Photo Shop one block over, convience store in the block. The Vatican was a 10 minute walk through a nice residential area and the Colosseum (relatively far away) is a 30 minute walk. It was nice to be away from the tourist areas when returned to the hotel.
Top Local Tips for Rome
Ciampino Airport Travel guides make a lot of fuss about difficulties of public transport to/from Rome & recommend using Terravision coaches from the airport (14 euros return). We used the local bus to the Anagnina metro station as our hotel was on the Metro. This cost 4 euros return, was easy (buy tickets on the bus) and from discussion was quicker than the coach. The only catch is that buses are only every 40 minutes and alternate between direct (10 mins) and stopping (25 mins) so you need to allow for this (we had a 40 minute wait & still beat the coach). (There is a taxi rank at the bus/metro interchange if you are running late).
Dont let taxi drivers rip you off Before getting a taxi discuss price before they rip you off! its easy enough for them to jack up prices just to rip off a tourist so before you do so discuss prices and find a price suitable for both of you
Which bus is which? If you're a solo or independent travler, getting to know the public transportation system will save time and money. Checking out the stops near your chosen hotel will save you effort in planning your touring. Bus stops are clearly marked and understandable. buying a Three day bus pass is a real deal.
