Historical Traveller Reviews of Impero Hotel

Excellent Hotel for the price.

from Dene7514
Just had a four night stay at this hotel and and for the price paid it was superb. Rooms are large, clean and soundproofed, easily accomodating two adults and a 9yr old. Bathroom was modern and housekeeping was excellent. Breakfast was typical continental and sufficient (you get what you pay for, stay at a more expensive hotel if you want a better variety).
Staff very friendly and helpful, the hotel looks a bit run down outside but inside it is very nice.
It is in an excellent location, everything is easily accessible.Take the red open top bus tour from Termini, which is a great way to see the city.

Excellent Location, Service and Value

11 Feb 2005: Just got back from 4 Nights at Impero. It is currently being refurbished, air con installed, rooms comfortable, clean. TV in our room, but no cable TV. Mini bar, hairdryer supplied. All staff were friendly, helpful. Breakfast choice of: rolls, boiled eggs, 2 types of cheese, coffee, hot milk, tea, cereal, juices and croissant or danish - eat as much as you want.
Could not fault for location: next to main railway station, loads of access for public transport throughout the city. Loads of nice restaurants and shops nearby.
Recommend that you make your stay here!

It's not the Ritz, but it was clean, convenient and in our budget. Stayed there for a week over Thanksgiving of 2004. Great location near the Termini. Rooms were small but clean. Initially staff was a little "stiff" but they were pretty helpful once we got to know them. They recommended Est, Est, Est which was about a half a block away, and we ate there several times. There's a supermarket down just past the Opera, and little gelato store across the street which our kids wanted to visit every evening. The breakfast consisted of basically hard rolls, cold cereal and hard boiled eggs. Other than a lack of fruit (which my family picked up at the supermarket), we didn't mind it. We were booked as part of an airfare/hotel deal, and we'd stay there again for the package price.

Loved it - great hotel, great location

Visited Hotel Impero January 2005

Hotel looks old fashioned from outside but once inside it is a lovely hotel with very friendly staff on reception. The hotel had recently been refurbished, rooms were a good size and very clean. All furniture was good quality and new, bathroom was very modern. Included in the cost of the room was a safe, fridge, hairdryer, TV and air conditioning. Rooms were very similar to Forte style hotels.

Hotel was in a great location only 3 to 4 minutes walk from Termini train station, taxi rank and bus station, a few buildings away was the opera house. The hotel is situated in a very nice area of Rome with lots of lovely restaurants close by. You can easily walk into the centre of Rome within about 15 to 20 minutes, the hotel is situated behind one of the main roads into the centre which is full of shops and cafe bars.

We had stayed in Rome before and paid much more for a room but this was much better value for money and a lovely hotel. Would definately recommed this hotel to friends and family.

Fantastico - would stay here any time

Have just spent four days at Impero Hotel and cannot praise it highly enough. The location is superb, right next to the Opera House and within easy walking distance of many attractions, with bus, train and metro connections close by. The Hotel was clean and tidy, the staff were ALL very polite and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and very pleasant. The bathroom was great, with constant hot water. Linen and towels changed daily. Breakfast was perfectly substantial. I had read other rather negative reviews before I went and can hardly believe we stayed at the same place. Could it be that if you have a pleasant attitude yourself, people respond in the same way???

Barely Adequate

from AZShaggydog
This hotel has delusions of adequacy. Room was miniscule and bath facilities even smaller. Staff was civil, but that's about all you can say. Breakfast was sufficient. Location very good, just a few minutes from the main train station. Fairly decent restaurants nearby.

Great location

We had pleasant stay at this hotel in July 2004 and were satisfied with the service from the staff. They were helpful at all times. The hotel is extremely well located close to Termini station and walking distance from the Colosseum. The air conditioning in the room was refreshing and the breakfast was adequate. This hotel was much better than I expected.

close to train station

Long walk to most sites.

Good Hotel in great location

from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel was small but conveniently located. It is located a short walk from the main train station and bus station. The metro is easily navigated as is the bus system in Rome, which will eliviate some walking. The rooms were small, but nice. Of all the hotels we stayed in this hotel had the coolest air conditioning which is a premium in Italy. Upon arrival, which was early in the morning approximately 10:00 am, we only had a 15 minute wait for one of our rooms to be ready. Most reviews of most hotels in Italy tell you that check-in is not a second before at least 2:00 pm. The gentlemen doing the check in was the same throughout our stay and assisted us each day with confirming our tours and transportation. He was always friendly and helpful. Our rooms were cleaned each day with fresh linens and towels. The breakfast leaves somewhat to be desired consisting mostly of hard boiled eggs, pastries, and cereal. Coffee, tea, milk and juice is also available. We were warned by our travel agent about the american coffee and it truely is worse than their regular Italian coffee.

I would strongly recommend the Washington Pizzaria which is across the street. We went the for lunch a few times and it was great for a late night drink and snack. The staff is overly friendly and helpful.

Top Local Tips for Rome

Hotel Impero is a 5 minute or less walk to/from Termini Train Station. If you want to avoid the notorious Roman Taxi's (RIP-OFFS), then this hotel accomodation is PERFECT for this and many other reasons.

Getting around The metro and bus system is very convenient just be careful of pick-pockets. It gets VERY crowded at times and people are very close to you. The system is cheap, 1 or 2 euros to travel. Taxis run about 10 euros to most locations within town.

The Metro The ticket machine on the Metro operates in different languages. Press the Union Jack button to get instructions in English and just jump on!
