Top Local Tips for Rome

Locals eateries eating at restaurants on side streets, slightly away from main tourist attractions. It's a lot cheaper and the food is a lot more authentic, as these are the places that locals tend to eat at.

buses. make sure you validate your travelcard in the machine. I was stopped and fined.

Bus station is right across from this hotel Busses are cheap and easy to get around Rome with. However, many things are within an easy walk from each other, for instance the Vatican and the Piazza Navona. We were on a mediteranian cruise and did not take any of the excursions, but wanted to do the sightseeing at our own pace. It all worked beautifully, with nine stops over twelve days. We started our cruise after the initial night in Rome, and loved it. Definitly purchase a map and have an outline of what to visit prior to arriving.
