Not what I was expecting...

The room I was given was EXTREMELY small, along the order of the bed barely fitting in the room, and having to go out into the hall to turn around... The air conditioner didn't even pretend to work, and the room was right above a major toutirst walking area; thus, the room was both hot and noisy...

Top Local Tips for Rome

tours I found that we got along great without booking a tour for every attraction, they are too time consuming and sometimes very boring. I like being free to see what I want whenever . We had a agenda and did it at our own leisure. We saw everything we wanted We got a lot of info from books and other visitors who recommended what to see. We did great on our own and saved a lot of time and money doing it our way. I also recommend to go off season we avoided the long lines and the heat of the summer months. The weather in March is a little cool but pleasant for touring.

Ostia Antica While Hadrian's Villa is not worth the effort to get to, Ostia Antica the old Port of Rome is worth the detour.It is better preserved and even more interesting than Pompei or Herculanum. It is worth taking the subway to the Pyramid stop , then jumped on a commuter train for 15 mns until you stop at Ostia Antica.Give it a shot! you won't regret it.

getting around use the bus 110 for 2 days 20 euro and unlimited stops
