Stayed twice, first time excellent room and staff. Second time, worst bathroom ever seen in a Holiday Inn anywhere. BEWARE of the Movie Selection,we ordered a movie, only to find out it wasn't in English and as we looked we accidently pushed another movie selection for an Italian movie...NO REFUNDS 22 Euros! BEWARE of the MiniBar costs. Coke 4.10e Coffee 3.10e. TIP go to the Sports Bar/Resturant behind the H.I. and save money and eat better too.
Plus, side for H.I. Train tickets, stamps and Tour Bus type Shuttle and Luggage Storage were GREAT!

Historical Traveller Reviews of Holiday Inn Rome Parco Dei Medici Hotel

Basic hotel

from PDPatara
Stayed for 4 nights in November. While clean, it is very basic and rooms need a revamp. Its a good distance from the center of Rome, although there is a good shuttle bus to the center and to the airport which is a must as a taxi will be €45.
The breakfasts were fine but avoid other meals as the food is very poor...better to eat in the one nearby restaurant.
I would not recommend, there are better places to stay in Rome.

Great Rome Airport Hotel

from 4mile
Holiday Inn Parc Medici ia about a 12 minute ride from Rome Airport (FCO) and a free shuttle is provided with convenient scheduled runs. Hotel was clean, in a nice mixed commercial and residential area. Only 130 euros and staff was very helpful. Pizza restaurant on street behind hotel was good, inexpensive and English spoken. There is also a shuttle into Rome, about 40 minutes away.

Good base

from GarryOttawa
This hotel is clean, the beds comforatable, and the place quiet. The rooms are large by Roman Standards. The shuttle bus into town works relatively well, but the times to the airport are very limited and poor.

The front desk staff have an attitude and aren't very helpful. There is not concierge, only a travel desk. The phone's don't work well in the rooms, and the internet connectivity is expensive.

The breakfast buffet is good, except for omellettes, always runny (not fully cooked) and unless you really insist they use a vial mixture from a carton that look like a milk container instead of the real eggs.

I would stay here again.

Halfway between airport and city

from Jeannegirl
We stayed here 3 nights while visiting Rome. The attraction was the free shuttle from the airport and from the hotel to the city. Keep in mind both are on scheduled pickups. We waited 1 1/2 hours for our shuttle at the airport. The rooms were very comfortable. Our room did not come with breakfast and in the hotel the food was very expensive. We ate in the restaurant on the night we arrived as there are no other restaurants near by. The salad bar was the best of their choices on the menu and the other dishes were not that great. We took the shuttle into town every morning and stopped at a coffee bar for coffee and a roll. That seems to be what the Italians do each day. Keep in mind that there is nothing else around the hotel so do your activities in town and come back for a quiet evening.

Excellent family fun

We stayed here recently for a week. Although located about 25 minutes from the city, the free shuttle bus provided by the hotel was great. The pool was fantastic given the weather at that time of the year (35-40degC). Able to sightsee in the morning then hit the pool to cool off or vice versa. Shuttle from the airport was also a god send, really easy to get to and from Fiumincino. Breakfast was great and the staff really helpful. We ate a number of times in the restaurant, which we initially thought was quite expensive until we ate out in the city one night. Stick to the pasta dishes though, the others weren't that great for the price. Rooms were large and clean, with great service. Great price too, 99 euros for 4 incl breakfast. Absolutely great place to stay with young teens - escape the hustle bustle of the city and chill out for a while. Plus the great sights of Rome are only a 25 min (free) trip away.

Outstanding Value

from fayesterVancouver
The Holiday Inn was a welcome reprieve in Italy. It's like a good old American hotel with a huge, beautiful pool. The rooms are large, modern and clean. The free shuttle bus to the airport and downtown Rome were fantastic, although limiting as far as times available. The breakfast was mediocre, but the hotel itself was a great value and we would recommend this hotel to people who want to go to Rome, but be away from the crowds and pollution of the tourist areas. Staff were polite but barely friendly, but then again, the happy guests made up for it. Great hotel.

Good AIRPORT hotel

from SailingTheSevenSeas
We stayed here for one night before our flight home to Canada. Excellent room, very clean and spacious with huge bathroom. Most of the staff was helpful and great complimentary airport shuttle. This hotel served our purpose for one night before our flight early the next day. Don't stay here expecting to be in the middle of the action as this is an airport hotel. In reference to a previous review, they didn't build this hotel in the middle of Rome because it was designed as an AIRPORT HOTEL! Excellent full breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, croissants, etc). Recommended for stopovers or early flights the next day.

Business Location

from BigTexasTraveller
This hotel is near the Fiumicino Airport, the hotel has a free shuttle bus running to FCO and Downtown.
**
Nice size room, very clean and safe, with A/C.
**
As with other EU hotels, rip off of 22euro/day for wireless internet access.
No stores, sites or shopping nearby, but 1 restraunt in the hotel and one behind it. Check times, they are not always open and you have to wear long pants in the hotel restraunt.
**
Cab from CIA was 27euro. Also walkable half mile from train station.

good value

from Rainjar
Good location near airport, but 45 mins away by car from main city centre. However, there is a regular and reliable shuttle bus to and from the city and airport. The hotel itself was clean, adequate facilities, note swimming pool not open till June. There are a lot more hotels nearer the city, but for the same price this one looks a lot nicer.

Good Choice Near the Airport

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at this hotel for one night at the end of a cruise vacation because we had a morning flight to the U.S. Our experience was similar to those of the other reviewers. Our seventh floor room was quiet, clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, and very spacious by European standards.

We found the staff to be helpful and friendly even though the hotel was hosting several business meetings at the time of our stay.

We ate lunch in the hotel restaurant. Although the menu was a bit limited, the food was very good and reasonably priced for a hotel restaurant (we had pasta dishes that were very good).

After lunch we took a short walk, and found the restaurant/pizzeria on the street behind the hotel mentioned by another reviewer (it's next to the Parco de Medici Residences). It had a more extensive menu, and the prices were a bit lower. We ate dinner there (an excellent very thin crust pizza followed by gelato).

The free shuttle service to the airport was a plus.

As other reviewers have noted this hotel is located in a business park area, and is away from the center of the city. They do provide a shuttle to the center of Rome, but it probably is not the most convenient hotel for a sightseeing trip.

Top Local Tips for Rome
