World Class

from A TripAdvisor Member
I splurged on our last night in Italy and we (2 adults and 2 teenagers) stayed at the Hassler. What an experience! I would compare it to the Ritz in Paris. Unlike many other hotels that are supposedly 5-star, the Hassler really is a great, world-class hotel. Everything was perfect (although extremely pricey). Everyone in my family felt the same way. The people at the front desk and the concierge were fluent in English, very polished, very warm and welcoming. The rooms were gorgeous. The air conditioning was cold. The beds were heavenly. The bathrobe was the best I've ever worn (both fluffy and light). The bathrooms were beautiful. The gym was a little small but had excellent equipment and a nice view. The breakfast buffet was very good. The location was to die for.

Rude - they hate Americans

from A TripAdvisor Member
The staff was rude and obviously despised Americans. Taxi drivers were
dishonest and the hotel staff did nothing to stop it. Extremely stuck up. Rooms
were hot. Noisy.

Outstanding location, a marvellous trip

from MandCo
We stayed at the Hassler's sister hotel the International Wine Academy for two nights as a Birthday celebration. We couldn't have asked for more, the accommodation was beautiful, and the location absolutely out of this world, right on the Spanish Steps.

A lot less stuffy than the Hassler, we felt as though we had the place to ourselves. Breakfast served in the rooftop restaurant at the Hassler is made extra special thanks to the tremendous panoramic views across the whole of Rome.

The location puts you right at the heart of Rome, and is a great base for exploring the city. We managed to walk to the Colloseum, Vatican City, Trevi Fountain, Castel de Angelo etc within 20-30 mins at most. If you love designer shops you can find Valentino, Prada, Fendi etc just 200 yards away. If you prefer winding streets, little trattoria's and culture then you will find that too.

We loved it so much we have already booked it for family and recommended it to others. Truly memorable for all the right reasons!

No Hassle at the Hassler!

from Pam_Shapiro_2004
We have just returned from a wonderful stay at The Hassler hotel in Rome. Although quite expensive, it's worth it for that special treat. The staff were all so courteous and friendly without being "over the top". The rooms were newly refurbished (7th floor), adjacent to a lovely terrace with wonderful views over Rome, to the Vatican. Spotlessly clean, evening turn down service, good toiletries, dressing gowns, slippers, etc.
Excellent breakfasts, eggs cooked to order, which is rare these days, and a very good buffet of most things you could want to eat.
We didn't eat in the hotel Salon Eva (the main restaurant is undergoing refurbishment at the moment), but found some very good places in the locality. Would recommend Nino's, at Via Borgognona 11, near the bottom of the Spanish Steps, for true Italian family atmosphere, wonderful food, in an unpretentious but characterful setting. We liked it so much, we went there twice!
All in all a very enjoyable trip and we would definitely return to this lovely hotel.

Bittersweet

from A TripAdvisor Member
just got back from rome, stayed 2 nites 3 days at the hassler. it is a remarkable hotel and the fact of it being located at the piazza di spagna apparently justifies its prices. 3000 dollars a nite for a small suite with an okay view seemed a little much(although i'm not a star or wealthy), but a small example of its true expense is 12euros for an 8oz coke , and idiots like me pay that.

t be Rome if not at The Hassler

from Wannabe10
In the past we have stopped in at the Hassler for a drink when visiting a favorite city. This trip we splurged and stayed there for our final 3 days in Italy.
Every detail of this visit was perfect. The staff was gracious and helpful, the room (standard) was lovely and spacious...and quiet!
We enjoyed a good breakfast buffet with a views over Rome in the 6th floor breakfast room each morning to begin the day.
I found an acceptable internet rate at their website, whcih included breakfast, and would recommend this hotel to everyone.

the price is high but wow ! wow wow wow

there is a charm of this hotel, from the way the windows open to the views..LIKE A WALL OF vines from our bathroom

they bring fresh fruit to your room every day. but on a tray with beautifull china only they can do..
it is the little things thats makes this a great hotel..
not for the budget traveler. if one one to step up this is the one !
but when we left and the door man man closed our door and wished us well and to come back we were both sad to leave.

we fell in love in rome and hotel hassler even though we have been married 28 years.
BRAVO- HOTEL HASSLER

elegance in rome

from Sabres
Our families recent stay at the Hassler Hotel was wonderful.. The service was 5 star, along with the room. Very elegant. Located right by the Spanish Steps, it was perfect. Many American celebrities are there, having breakfast with you. We would definitely stay there again. Well worth the money.

Excellent Hotel

from linfer
Our family just stayed at the Hotel Hassler at the end of June. We found the hotel to be superb! This hotel is also in a wonderful location on top of the Spanish Steps, with great restaurants and stores within walking distance. There is also an elevator nearby to take you up and down the steps.

Our first impression upon arriving was of luxury and grandeur. We were definitely in for a pampering experience!

We found the staff to be exceptional!!! They were all very friendly and accommodating. Actually, they couldn’t do enough for us! Especially Nino--he was wonderful. He recommended two excellent restaurants and always gave us his undivided attention.

Our room (#415) was large, extremely clean and beautifully decorated! (Deluxe double) It had a king sized bed plus plenty of room for a small single bed for my daughter. We had plenty of closet and drawer space. We also had a balcony with a view of a small courtyard.
Our bathroom was excellent! Large and beautiful with modern amenities and beautiful marble everywhere! We also loved the luxurious bathrobes and slippers that were supplied!

Complimentary breakfast buffet was at the Rooftop Restaurant on the sixth floor with breathtaking views of Rome. The food was very good -- fruits, croissants, muffins, breads, cereals, meats, cheeses, eggs, sausages, pancakes, sweets, etc. -- you could even order eggs and omelets -- and the waiters were very nice and accommodating. We did not have dinner at the Hassler.

The service is this hotel is absolutely exceptional!!!! If you called for anything, someone was at your door immediately asking what they could do for you! This was a fabulous hotel, on the expensive side, but we really loved the Hassler and would definitely stay there again!

Overpriced - you can do much better

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the Hassler earlier this week. When checking in, at around 8pm, I was taken aside by an embarrassed looking staff member, who told me that for "technical reasons" my room was unavailable and that I would therefore be given the "emergency room". He made a point of saying that my travel agent had said that I would arrive earlier in the day, thus to my ears suggesting that my room had been given away and that it would have been better for all concerned if I had not come at all.

The emergency room (room 412) turned out to be the size of a walk-in wardrobe and with a very narrow bed. There was no bath, a very small shower and toilet, an old television and a view of a courtyard, although this was almost entirely blocked by drainpipes. For all this I was charged a "reduced rate" of 250 euros, plus a further 15 euros for breakfast (my colleague paid a full rate of 350 euros, so my discount was pretty limited). Breakfast itself was average, although the view is of course magnificent. On check-out, the supposed "technical reasons" were not mentioned and I was simply told that the hotel had overbooked.

I stayed for a week in Rome last year with my wife at the excellent 3-star Hotel Modigliani. The rooms there are not large, but the staff are extremely friendly (on hearing that it was my wife's birthday they left champagne in our room), and at a price of about 150 euros it is far better value than the overpriced Hassler - there are plenty of wonderful restaurants in Rome at which you could spend the difference!

Top Local Tips for Rome

Watch out for taxis Be careful of taxis. On several occasions they took the long route and tried to rip us off. After confronting them, they reduced their fare and claimed they were new.

colsseum definitely dont miss getting a tour of the colsseum - its amazing

Guided tours Lots of high quality guided tours available by people with real passion for their subject matter for sights like Vatican museums/Sistine Chapel and Coloseum. Can take a long time but worth it as you learn so much more than glancing at a book. The guides / their helpers will find you if you look the type (i.e a tourist) - you do't have to book.
