Everything that is stated here is the absolute truth. We spent new years here and the views of fireworks from the roof was spectactular. They call the roof top the top of Rome. The staff is great. The concierge was very helpful and be sure to say hi to the door man Paul. The only thing I would suggest is to recommend a room away from the lifts. They are very loud when you are trying to sleep at night. We were given a room next to one and we asked to be moved and they moved us with no problem. Also ask for an upgrade. They gave us one at no additional cost. We are in our late 20's and there is a lot of night life around this hotel. Try the Supper Club around the corner for a late night drink and club dancing. Or try Cul-de-sac for a great wine bar.

Great Location, Lovely Room

from wgreen
I stayed in the hotel on November 24-27, 2004. We had a perfectly lovely room. It was on the top floor overlooking the square. The room was well-decorated and had one of the largest hotel bathrooms I have seen in a European hotel room.

The location of the hotel was perfect. It is a block or two off of main streets which helps it be quiet. In fact, when we were taking a taxi from the train station to the hotel, I was a bit worried that we were being taken for a ride - we went down so many small alleys to get to the hotel. If you are comfortable with a little walk, it is in a great location - everything is within walking distance.

If I return to Rome, I would definitely stay here again!

Great location

from EMTBStation53
My fiance and I stayed here for five nights in late September. The suite I reserved (650 Euros), although lovely, did not live up to the spectacular photographs on the website. The dinner in the dining room was very good, but very over-priced. The roof terrace is a wonderful place to spend the evening or to have an after-dinner drink. Generally the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The concierge recommended perfect restaurants for us. The only negative was the extremely rude treatment we received from one of the maitre d's in the restaurant who doesn't seem to understand the true meaning of service.

Understated elegance

from caviargal
I have been fortunate to have been a guest at the Minerve five times over a six year period. It is my favorite hotel in all of Europe.

During my third stay in 2000, the manager greeted me at the front desk and offered me an upgrade to the suite. I cannot describe how fabulous this suite was and I am a very jaded traveller! The bedroom was massive with magnificent frescoed ceilings and large windows. And the bathroom was immense with a shower in the center of the room and velvet benches all around. It was absolutely magnificent!

The rooms are lovely in every category, the panoramic rooftop bar is spectacular and the service is top notch from the doormen to the piano player in the lounge.

If you can afford the rates, which have really increased dramtically in the past 3-4 years, treat yourself to a stay at this wonderful hotel.

Grand Minerve is Grand

from The Traveling Commander
We stayed here for three nights in July 2004. Great location. Close to everything. Within walking distance of almost every attraction in Rome. The continental breakfast was good, and our meal in the roof top restaurant was excellent, exceeded only by the view. Beautiful large room, well appointed. We will stay here next time we are in Rome.

Great Hotel and Location

from A TripAdvisor Member
We just returned from a week's stay in Rome, and the Grand Hotel De La Minerve was a fantastic part of it. The room was well sized (though not overly large for a 5 star hotel) and appointed, the staff courteous and attentive, and the public rooms beautifully done. We enjoyed the roof top restaurant and bar with their great views. The location at the Pantheon is excellent for those who like to walk - almost all major sites are thirty minutes or less by foot. We look forward to a return stay.

Very Classy Hotel

from RedCharleston
This is a very nice hotel in a wonderful location in Rome. We just stayed here for 2 nights and would definitely go back. The staff was very very attentive and helpful, even helping us ship back packages, etc. The breakfast was included in the room rate and was very good as well for a continental buffet. It rained the whole time we were there so we did not get to try the rooftop bar or enjoy the view -- but will look forward to that on our return. We stayed in Room 530 which was very impressive -- very tastefully decorated with a nice size bathroom with jacuzzi tub, walk-in closet, large sitting area, king size bed, and a perfect view (with windows that open completely to enjoy) of the Pantheon and Minerve Square. On arrival, the hotel had left a complimentary bottle of wine and some homemade snacks for us in the room which was a wonderful touch. The conceirge was first class -- quickly making reservations for dinner, arranging taxis, and of course packaging and shipping our souvenirs back to the states. Our only complaint (and we hate to complain about this hotel at all, but it must be said) is that our room backed up to the elevator which made it almost impossible for us to sleep either night. Also, the restaurant must have been right over our room as there was the sound of chairs, etc moving around for most of the late night and early morning -- we guessed it was the staff prepping/cleaning. So we would stay here again and request a room just like the one we had -- but away from the elevators. This is a very nice hotel where the staff works very hard to please, and is successful.

Great Location but pricey

from JBush
We stayed at the Minerve July 3 to 10, 2004.
The location is excellent for walking Rome. The hotel is largely well appointed- although our room did not have a clock-,everything was in good working order- including the air conditioning on a very hot week- and the staff were helpful.
We unfortunately were given a very small room immediately beside elevators which was quite noisy. If we were to ever return we would insist on a better room location.
And the cost for breakfast was 29 euros each which we found ridiculous.
We have stayed in comparable hotels in Paris & London where breakfast is included.
Still the location cannot be beat.

s too pricey.

We stayed at the Minerva a few times while it was still a Holiday Inn property named Minerva Crown Palace. We loved everything about it...the rooms, the staff, the rooftop restaurant, and especially the location. The doorman, Paul, is a gem. However, when the hotel became independent and separated from Holiday Inn, their prices increased so drastically that we will never again be able to stay there.

Absolutely Lovely!!!!

from Traveler4423
My husband and I statyed at the Minerve during our honeymoon and it was so grand and wonderful. Like past reviews I have to agree with everything that was said. The location was perfect - central to all the sites. One of the great things about staying in the center is being able to walk to all the sites and staying at the Minerve gives you that ability. Would go back and stay there again in a hearbeat - magical hotel!!!! If you go while the weather is nice you MUST go to the rooftop and have a cocktail. Spectacular view and lovely waitstaff.

Top Local Tips for Rome

Dining in the center of Rome GO the extra distance, and walk 10 more minutes to Trastevere to eat. It seems that the further away we got from the center, the better the food got!

coffee and ice cream Della palma off panatheon square for ice cream and piazza sant eustachio for coffee

Airport Transportation Would definitely recommend "" - Great service - courteous drivers who were early every time!
