Very nicely appointed hotel in a good location, with excellent staff and service, and a great bar for that early evening aperitif or pre-bedtime 'night cap'. The room was slightly smaller than I was expecting, but we had a great stay.

Top Local Tips for Rome

Watch out for overcharging taxis Our experience was even with the meter running we were overcharged! Later in our trip we had one taxis trip when the driver forgot to put on the meter, and we had not noticed, however he charged us very little for the trip. It seemed to us that the meters were fixed for over charging. Ask the driver when you get in the taxis for an estimate and are there any hidden charges - lugguage for instance!!

Dine at L'isola della Pizza on Via degli Scipioni 41-49 A fantastic restaurant that we dined at twice. Mention the owners name and that it was reccomended and he will make sure you are looked after. Can have anything from a pizza to a 5 course meal... excellent sevice food and friendly staff!!

Getting from the Airport to the Center Use the train and the Metro. It's cheap - faster than taxi & easy to use. Don't be afraid - use it.
