Top Local Tips for Rome

Seats or lack of, cash, Vatican City, Tour buses. We found that public benches or seats of any kind non-existant in streets or at any of the ancient atractions apart from the odd stone block. We went into churches, when we could, to rest our legs, they were free. Watch your change when giving notes, we were twice short changed but after querying it the correct amount was given.If you go to the Vatican DONT carry a pen knife of any kind , I had to throw a chrished one away or be refused entry, they have airport style x-ray scanners and police at the Basilica and the Sistine Chapel so be warned ! Buy a 24hr 'hop on hop off' bus tour ticket at midday one day and use it right up to midday the next day, it saves a lot of walking and you can see lots.
