Galatea is an affordable, comfortable and centrally located hotel base for exploring Rome. The rooms are "compact", but clean and very comfortable and with en-suite facilities. The interior is contemporary and stylish inside a 200 year old building, on the third floor. The staff are friendly and helpful and speak English. Breakfast is simple, basic, "continental" fare in a long, narrow dining room. The one thing lacking is a lounge area where one might sit and share a glass of wine with friends after a long day of sight-seeing. Don't be put off by this - you can use the dining area. There is a balcony overlooking the interior courtyard. The approach from via Genova is through large green wooden double doors on the street, where there is a convenient cafe/bar during the day and brilliant pizzeria ("Est, est est") just up the road, evenings. Termini station is nearby (we walked), together with Piazza della Republica, Trevi, Quirinale, Foro Romano, Colosseum and many more, all walkable. (64 bus from via Nazionale, at end of via Genova, takes you to St Peter's/Vatican one way and Termini Station the other....easy!) We will definitely be returning to this hotel!!!
