We received a warm welcome from the owner when we arrived. I wasn't expecting such a plush room for a 2 star hotel. The linen and towels were changed and the room cleaned everyday. We couldn't fault anything. When we go back to Rome, we will be staying there again.

On arriving at the Hotel Gabriella we discovered our airline tickets had been stolen. The owner was very helpful & assured us our valuables and passports were best left with the hotel for safety. He spoke many languages and personally catered to all his clientel. He let us use his computer to notify our travel agent. The location was excellent. Breakfasts were delicious. All the staff was resourceful with maps and info on Rome. We would be happy to return to the Gabriella the next time we're in Rome.

Top Local Tips for Rome

Orientation and miss the queues Buy a Roma Pass, and on your first morning take the 110 open top toursit bus and do a complete circuit to orientate yourself, then chose your iteniery from there. One day pass was 15 Euros less Roma card discount. The Roma Pass is 20 Euros and allows access to 2 attractions, and unlimitated travel on buses, metro and trams. We used it at the Collesium and passed a line that was huge (guess a 2 hour wait) and walked straight in).

Strike Always read the news, because is very often strikes of the public transports.

Free Entrance We were pleased to enter many Rome attractions for free during culture week - the week after Easter.
