Clean comfortable room. Maid service brilliant. Reception good and friendly. Breakfast a great variety to suit everyone. Nice resturants and pubs nearby. Use local buses to travel to termini for links with metro or 15 mins to walk there.

Awesome Hotel! Great Value for Money!

from swede35
My husband and I just returned from a 4 day trip to Rome. We stayed at this hotel upon the recommendation of an Italian friend. We were looking for a nice clean hotel with good service which wasn't too pricey. We found it! This hotel was awesome! It looks as if it was newly renovated. The bathroom looked new. Everything was very clean! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. There was a cute breakfast room and a number of things to choose from for breakfast - bread, croissants, pastries, cheese, salami, jam, cereal, juice, coffee, tea, mineral water, eggs and bacon, yogurt.

All and all we were extremely pleased with our stay at this hotel. We would definitely stay there again.

Awesome! Great value for the money!

We highly recommend it!!!!

Great Hotel!

from sarahgail
We stayed in Hotel Fiume for 3 nights and had no problems. The area was quiet but within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops. The hotel was lovely and clean, room was big, clean towels every day, brilliant shower (let it run for a bit to warm up!) and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Would definately reccommend, was excellent value for money and a perfect choice to suit our needs.
(Note - they have no irons available for guests!!!)

Very good city hotel

from sae56
We had a triple room which was much bigger than we expected in a city centre hotel. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate, well stocked with lots of choice. Main attractions are within walking distance, but for the less energetic the very efficient bus service runs to every tourist location from the end of the street

Perfect for that budget city break

we wanted to book a cheap, last minute trip to Rome and found Fiume on lastminute. Using this site for an unbiased review, we were fairly pleased with what we read and were looking forward to seeing the hotel. On arrival we were pleasently surprised to find it clean, well maintained, quaint but hospitable. The hotel was well located and within a 30-40 minutes walking distance of all the main attractions yet away from overtly touristy areas.
Sometimes a little noisy at night but no disturbance from other guests, a great breakfast provided in the price, private and well stocked bar and hot water, clean towels and room service every day.

On the last night we asked for a good local restaurant and were recommended one that was 2 mins from the hotel. It was one of the best meals we had on our stay and was full of locals (always a good sign!)

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for something on a budget that is clean, well maintained, locally run and great for resting your head after a long day sight seeing.

Fare price, pleasant stay

We stayed at Fiume for a week in late August.

The hotel is in a small relatively-quiet friendly neighbourhood where romans meet for dinner and social life. The room we were allocated in floor 3 was clean, had a very new bathroom (strong shower, soft halogen lights, spotless new towels), comfortable and firm beds, TV with English channels (not many in other languages), minibar and phone.

During the day, you can head for the centre cutting through the elegant Veneto area or chill out at the beautiful park Villa Borghesse, where you can rent bicycles. The Spanish steps are about 15 mins away. In the evening, you can visit the local typical restaurants where you will enjoy the company of chatty locals, or you may pop in the ultra trendy bar round the corner. If that's not your cup of tea you can have coffee and dessert at a little beautiful ice-cream shop opposite the hotel or go to the cinema next door.

Bad points: the AIR CON was very weak and some nights we could not sleep because of the heat (35 degrees!). The decoration is a bit outdated (80s), no irons, (I asked for one and I was told I had to send my clothes to dry clean), front desk staff a bit cold and daytime noise from a nearby furniture factory (try to book a room away from the street on the entrance side).

Taking into account how expensive Rome can be for visitors, not a bad choice, though.

Good hotel

Like a number of other people, I booked this hotel on the strength of the very positive reviews. In my opinion those favourable reviews are justified. The hotel is inexpensive and clean, the breakfast is good and the staff are efficient and friendly. Furthermore, the hotel is on a quiet street, something of a rarity in Italian cities. However, I have two negative points. First, the hotel is not particularly central; although it's within walking distance of the railway I wouldn't advise the walk if you have heavy luggage. Secondly, although there is little noise coming from outside, the hotel's internal walls are paper-thin (one morning I woke up to the sound of the occupant of the room next door brushing his teeth).

Very pleasant stay at fiume

We were warned to expect a lot of problems with hotels in Rome. We selected Fiume based on the reviews from this site. I should say it was very good. Staff were friendly, very helpful. Rooms were very clean and reasonable breakfast in the mornings. In total a very pleasant stay. We decided to walk to all the attractions. It took us 25-30mins to reach the various different attractions by walk.On the way good resturants too.
Thanks to all who wrote a review about this one. It was very helpful

Everything the reviews said..

I chose this hotel on the strengths of the reveiws on this site. It was everything people said. Spotlessly clean, efficient and a solid place to stay. I had a single room on the third floor for 4 nights. I slept well each night, the cleaning was excellent, breakfast simple but exactly what I needed before a day site seeing. Front office staff pleasant and efficient- perfect!
The area is a good walk from the main sites but full of local Romans - You don't feel like you are surrounded by other tourists. Would stay here again for sure.

little gem

from Nottingham_ladies
Arrived 1am to a friendly welcome. We had two rooms, one was generous the other adequate. Both had powershowers/bath.Spotlessly clean and nicely furnished.A good buffet breakfast with plenty of choice, even for 2 veggies! Plenty of restaurants 1 min walk, to suit all budgets.Bus stop 5 mins to major tourist spots. Free room safe, deposit of 20 euro note was returned in full on checkout! Four females returning late after a bottle of wine or two, felt safe to saunter back through the streets. Would return again.

Choosing the right hotel

from docchuki
Choosing the right hotel in Rome can be quite difficult I found when I tried to book a hotel for a 4-day-trip for me, my partner and my mother and sister. You donĀ“t want it to be too far out, it should be a nice, decent place and luckily I found it.
Hotel Fiume: nice, clean rooms, hotel-staff very friendly and helpful (all speak English, some speak German), maximum you pay in a Taxi to every single main-attraction is about 10-12 Euros (~10 min.), great breakfast-buffet (American style). What else could you possibly want? I can only recommend it and would stay here again.

Top Local Tips for Rome

RomaPass 2 free museum admissions (Colosseum/Palatine Hill counts as 1 ticket) and 3-day transportation pass, plus discounts for other museum admissions... This is too good to pass up at just 20 Euros!

Things to Do Take the bus to the attraction which is furthest from your hotel and walk to each attraction heading home.

Restaurant 100 metres from the hotel Go to "Disco Valante" or something on V anyway... The receptionist can show you on a map, it's about 100 metres or so from the hotel =) Great italian food, and very cheap!
