Just Perfect!

We spent 5 days in Rome. Using the guidelines and reviews of other travellers I chose Hotel Farnese as our basis for our excursions. I must state that this was the perfect choice! It is in terrific location, easily accessible by all means of transport (subway, bus station 3 minutes away!) and also on foot. There are many shops just nearby. The service was excellent, breakfast was more than enough (croissant, toast, cheese, mortadella, boiled eggs, cakes, juices, coffee, tea, hot-chocolate, etc.) The rooms were large enough and cleaned every day. Really I can just say, that next time I would stay here again and not just to say hello to a real gentleman at the reception, called Louis! (all personnel were polite and helpful!!)

This hotel was extremely comfortable, very clean and very friendly. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The staff were friendly and always helpful. I would happily stay here again.

Room 41 with terrace excellent. Very quiet, clean, good food, friendly helpful staff, Louis on front desk very helpful. Organised taxis to collect us from airport at 1 am. Quiet area, central for everything.

Three of us stayed at the Hotel Farnese this June and enjoyed it immensely. We shared an ample size room with an elegant bathroom. The location provided a nice respite from the busy city. It was within walking distance to the Vatican and a block from the metro. The garden room off the Lobby was delightful and we enjoyed many cappucinos there. The breakfast buffet was the best we had in Italy. The staff were extremely accomodating and gave excellent recommendations for restaurants. Would stay there again without hesitation.

We had two rooms this past September. Both were really large for Euro hotels with fabulous bathrooms. But the service from the staff was probably the best I ever encounted in the 30+ years I've been traveling abroad. Quite street, short walk to the Vatican. We recommend it highly.
Am planning to stay there again.

Love the Farnese

In September of 2005 my wife and I flew to Rome, and stayed at the Hotel Farnese for the second time. The hotel is in a great location, close to St. Peters Basillica, within easy walking distance and several other attractions, including many restaurants and shopping. The staff at the hotel were great especially Lewis who was most helpful and friendly. Always willing to help with our luggage and advice on how to get around in Rome and find all the attractions. We would highly recommend the Hotal Farnese to anyone travelling to Rome. The hotel also serves a great breakfast, and the coffee is fantastic.

A Perfect Stay

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversay and five of our fifteen days in Italy at the Hotel Farnese in Rome. It was just Perfect!

The Hotel is charming, with a lovely reception area, garden sitting room and breakfast room. It also has lovely artwork/stained glass and an interesting history as a former palace. Our room was lovely and had a large balcony with a view of the dome of St. Peter's (request in advance).

It is walking distance to Vatican City, the historical Center (Spanish Steps/Trevi fountain/Pantheon), great restaurants and shopping. Is also close to the Tiber River. Just Perfect! But what will always stay with us was how helpful the staff was during the entire visit - especially Alessandra and Louis. Not only were they delightful and efficient, they helped us with dinner reservations, train reservations and taxi service to and from the airport and train station (plus Louis makes a great Martini!). They helped to make this leg of our wonderful Italian journey very enjoyable.

We would highly recommend this Hotel.

My wife and I recently visited Rome for the first time (July, 2005). We made all of the travel and room arrangements ourselves through our own research with guidebooks and through the internet. We stayed at Hotel Farnese for the entire week while we vacationed in Rome and were very satisfied with our decision. The staff was very kind, helpful and friendly. We enjoyed chatting with both the day and the night front desk managers on our way in and out of the hotel each day. The room was clean and comfortable, the terrace was lovely and the location in a quiet neighborhood was very welcome after spending the day and evenings out on the town. Having the Lepanto Metro station just one block from the hotel was also very convenient. I would highly recommend staying at the Hotel Farnese for a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience.

A wonderful little spot that is very close to the Vatican. After spending 3 weeks in Taranto Italy (for work) and getting to know the Italian-way a little bit, this room was a little piece of heaven. I was in a single room on the first floor which is about 1/2 a floor below the ground. The staff was fantastic; very helpful, curteous, and sincere. The rooms were extremely clean and the bathroom was terrific (3 head shower, ahhhhhhhhh!). Tile flooring throughout, secure window, a/c, lots of storage for your clothes and excellent lighting. As seems to be the case in most Italian rooms, the bed spread was old, but the sheets were new and crisp and clean. For 100 Euros, it is worth every penny. I didn't get a chance to have breakfast (passing through on my way back to Canada) but there is no doubt in my mind that is was well done. They also have internet available on site.

We stayed at the Hotel Farnese for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly. And we really enjoyed the breakfast. The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood, just a 10-minute walk from the Vatican.

Top Local Tips for Rome

Trevi Fountain Make sure you see the Vatican Museums, and don't leave without visiting the Trevi Fountain at night - the atmosphere is magical when it is floodlit.

Tour Guides make the trip more memorable..espeically for kids. We were given the name of Angel Tour Company, because they are art students and highly recommended for kids. Our guide spoke English and gave us so much background and history on Rome. They were well worth the Euros we paid them. We did a Rome walking tour, a Vatican tour and a Colleseum tour. My kids are still talking about Steve our guide. He was brillitant!!! Also took us to the most amazing gelato place and gave us great restaurant recommendations! We have a freind in Rome!!

Eating out Restaurants near to the Pantheon area are reasonably pricedwith great food in a great location. Avoid the cafes right outside the Vatican Museums they are not good value!
