Top Local Tips for Rome
Transport Airport transfer to centre very efficent. Public transport great for sightseeing buy day pass for €4 at any newsagents, so easy to use. For visits to the Vatican St Peters seems to be opened all day but opening times for The Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel (a must do visit) are restricted, closes 12.30 Wednesday, so check before hand, we had to make a second trip on Thursday. We travelled End Feb/March weather was great 17/18c, very quiet, longest queue was Vatican about 20mins,so pleasant. I don,t think I could have coped with the crowds and heat in the hieght of the summer.
Ice Cream Parlour You must visit this, on the main road from the hotel to the nearest underground station!
RUSH HOUR CONGESTATION If you plan to use the metro to travel to/from locations do so out of the rush hours. The metro is very, very crowded by the time it gets to the tourist locations (spagna, coliseum etc)
