Top Local Tips for Rome

Don't get ripped off When you arrive at the airport get a minibus to your hotel it cost about 20Euros each depending on how many are travelling the more there is the cheaper it is, they also give you a discount card for you return journey ack to the airport 35Euros(total), A taxi can cost about 70-80Euros one way. Be aware of the taxi prices in and around the Vatican we took a taxi in the morning and it cost 7Euro from our hotel for the same journey back that evening (6.30pm) it 21Euro.

Tourist sites Pre-book the Sistine Chapel with a guide. This means that you can be head of the queue but you need to be there at 8 am. It's good for a small group of people as you can share the cost of the guide. You get more information than needed unless you are already an expert, but you definitely gain greater insight. With all the tourist attractions it is really worth getting out of bed early as even in April, Rome is over-run by tourists. The Villa Borghese is worth a trip as it is stuffed with amazing art, paintings and sculptures, and the park is lovely for walking around. For somewhere different and not touristy to eat, try "brunch" at a restaurant called "Gusto" in Via del' Ara Pacis. Off Via del Corso It's a help yourself meal and you pay by weight! Recommended to us by a Roman!!
