I had booked a last minute reservation at another hotel but due to construction my room was unavailable, so they sent me here. They have 24-hour reception, the desk clerk speaks good English, and is very friendly. The hotel is small and shares the building with the Hotel Firenze and a stamp shop. Rooms have air conditioning, TV, and telephone. The bathroom was nice and the shower was even better. There is no refrigerator or safe, but I didn't need one. The hotel is down the street from Piazza di Spagna, where there is also a Metro stop, and in the other direction is a main street with restaurants etc. Several upscale shops are in the area. Convenient location. They have breakfast in the morning also (coffee, pastries). I would recommend this hotel. Small but affordable and in a good area.

Top Local Tips for Rome

Queing time If you're only going to Rome for a short break remember to factor in queing time for major attractions. The queue for St Peter's dome was 2hrs and the Vatican museum (Sistine chapel) 2.5hrs during my recent May trip.

Use always white cabs If you need to get from or to the airport use the white TAXI. Much cheeper than the shuttle and quicker too. To get to the Vatican Musemus try to be there by 7.45am they open at 8.30. Vatican in the morning and Rome spectacular.

Ripped off by taxi driver agree a fixed price at the airport, and agree that is to your hotel. We were dropped off a long way from our hotel and told it would be quicker to walk the 400 yards to our hotel as the traffic was bad. Turned out we were about a mile away! not amused!
