I can't say enough about the Croce.It's like my home in Roma. I've stayed there 3 times now if that says anything. And I'm pretty picky about hotels.
The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. They go for low key ambiance here.
The rooms are clean, quaint and quiet.
The beds are comfy. No king size beds though.
I had a nice conversation with one of the employees about food and the next afternoon he brought me some homemade gnocchi his wife had made! Try getting that back in the US.lol.

The location can't be beat for walking around and you're in the middle of everything. Most of all you get a 4 star stay at a 2 star price. I highly recommend this place.
You won't be sorry.

I ALWAYS and ONLY stay at the Hotel Croce di Malta, Rome, because I just love the ambiance, the staff are perfect and I am very happy there. Nothing too elaborate; just very comfortable. Pauline N. Fromer
