Historical Traveller Reviews of Cosmopolita Hotel
nice hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberGreat hotel!
from A TripAdvisor MemberHotel has a gorgeous roof terrace with a wonderful view of the Victor Emanuel monument. On hot afternoons the terrace roof is opened and you can enjoy a drink or snack in an air conditioned terrace and still enjoy the views!
We stayed in a standard double room and the room and bathroom were squeaky clean and very comfortable. Shower in the bathroom was a little small. The room and bath were cleaned every day. Room had sound proof windows, a definite must have!
Staff was always very helpful and accomodating. The breakfast was very good with a great selection of hot and cold items and served an awesome capuccino!
Will definitely stay at the Cosmopolita Hotel next time we visit Rome! The only thing we didn't like was seeing some walls spackled in preparation for painting...
Note on restaurants: some restaurants find ways to add on charges to your bill. I don't recommend you agree to suggestions made by the waiter unless you ask how much it will cost upfront or you will be very surprised when you receive your bill! We found it best to stick to the menu and look for restaurants locals like to frequent. We were never dissapointed!
Great Location, Ok hotel
from LoveTraveling76But the rooms were ok, the staff was VERY helpful.
The weather in Rome is soo HOT that next time I will find a hotel with a pool.. you really need to cool off after walking around all day in the sun.
I'm not sure if I would stay at this hotel again but definetly in the same area as sighseeing was soo convinient.
Was Okay
from A TripAdvisor MemberExcellent and central location
from RJCScotlandTrip highlights…don’t miss the gallery Borghese…this was outstanding…we recommend booking in advance on-line…due to restricted visitor numbers and time slots
This hotel is a superb base for walking in central Rome…if your energy for walking flags...take a taxi to the top of the various hills and do the walking down hill!
I would use the Hotel Cosmopolita again and recommend it with confidence.
Excellent Choice for Tourists
from A TripAdvisor MemberTrajan's Market is literally just around the corner. The Colosseum, The Forum, Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navonna are all within easy walking distance.
The staff is also excellent! They spoke English incredibly well and were very helpful - even arranging our transportation back to the airport for an early, early flight.
As has been mentioned before, the breakfast room has a huge spread and the rooftop gives a beautiful view of the city. (You can see St. Peter's from there.)
Wooden floors, marble stairs and great old world charm. The rooms are small as compared to the U.S., but that's true all over Rome. The only problem was the tiny shower, but after 1 or 2 baths, you get over that.
I would definitely stay there again.
Best Choice for Rome
from Jillian2004Great place!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe hotel staff is very friendly. They helped us in any way we wanted. And always with a big smile.
The rooms were nice (we were in 448, 450 and 452). They were not very large but warmly decorated. There was some traffic noise from the street but only when we opened the windows (which wasn't necesarry because of the aircon). The bathrooms were a bit small but very clean, and they had everything in it that we needed.
Hotel Cosmopolita is absolutely worth a visit!
Fantastic hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberBrilliant location
from RobertPAdamsThe hotel is very central and well within walking distance of almost everything we wanted to see, including the shopping areas which pleased the girls. NB, if you have teenage daughters, take them to the Coliseum where they can barter to their hearts content for fake Prada/Gucci/Cartier handbags, Dolce et Gabanna, Cartier, etc sunglasses and Rolex watches from the street traders- it was the highlight of the trip for them and made them more amenable to visiting the Forum etc with us.
Excellent restaurants around the Trevi Fountain with the lightest spinach and ricotta ravioli I have ever tasted. We have thrown our coins into the fountain and will return to the Cosmopolita.
Top Local Tips for Rome
Bus to the Vatican If you are staying in the centre definitely hop on a local bus to the Vatican. You will spend alot of time walking during your holiday I expect so make the most of the good bus service when you can.
Rick Steves Dining Recommendations There were so many restaurants to choose from, but relatively little objective information, that we had a hard time deciding on restaurant choices. In the end we went mostly to recommendations from Rick Steeve's book. This worked out very well. The restaurants were relatively low cost and not tourist restaurants. The food was excellent and most of them had at least a smattering of english skills.
Great for foodies We visited a number of restaurants for dinner, cafes or pizzerias for lunch and all were superb. Great value for money if your on a budget or have want a La Carte.
