Very helpful friendly staff, rooms were of an excellent standard for the star rating. Restaurant and Bar were well appointed; good food, loved the roof terrace were you could take breakfast. Ideal location for getting to all the sightseeing either walking or by public transport. Would definitely recommend this pleasing hotel.

Great Staff

The staff is great and their recommendations made our trip to Rome even better. The room was quiet and extremely clean. Although the room was adequate in size, it was larger than many I have stayed at in Europe. There were unexpected amenities such as a hair dryer, makeup mirror, and walk-in closet. The breakfast and coffee are very good and the roof top terrace is quite enjoyable. I was concerned about the area around hotel, but the location was fine compared to others around Termini. Ask the staff for restaurant recommendations, though, as the area is filled with mediocre tourist food. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a clean, reasonable hotel in an excellent location.

Everything was extremely well conducted, the room and its service staff were excellent and the fact that English people were considered regarding food,(without losing the Italian flavour!) made us very comfortable.



We would especially like to thank you for your courtesy in the presentation wine for our wedding anniversary on the 19th.



Certainly all reception staff were very good, and we would like to give special thanks to Patti for doing so much to help us on the 18th after my wife had her purse stolen on the Metro. Patti took a lot of trouble to help us, and we are very grateful.

A Nice Place - Hotel Columbia

The Hotel Columbia was a pleasent place to stay in Rome. The room was very clean, the service was friendly, the breakfast buffet was very good and the location was convenient to the train station, subway and city sites. Beds and the bath were a bit small, but that is to be expected in a European hotel. Overall, I highly recommend it!

Greatest in Customer Attention

Hotel Columbia is to be commended for the attention payed to customers. My seven day stay at this hotel made my first trip to Italy an experience that will remembered forever. The entire staff from the front desk personnel to the chamber staff gives this hotel a feeling of warmth and comfort. The location is absolutely perfect as I was able to get around Rome with tremendous ease. I would like to personally thank the staff for a very wonderful and inviting experience.

Hotel is 10 minute walk from Train Station. Location seemed good for sightseeing. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very good and roof top garden is very nice. Room was clean, size was typical small but adequate European. Bathroom okay, but hot water for shower seemed inadequate. Lobby needs a renovation. My biggest complaint was that you hear every bit of noise from nearby rooms, bathrooms, and the hallways. Bring ear plugs! Overall I'd say the 3 star rating is accurate.

This well presented hotel is just within walking distance with luggage from the main Termini station (where the Easyjet coach drops from Ciampino airport). The room was small but clean and comfortable with all necessary facilities.

I really can't understand the bad reviews this place has received - the staff were friendly & helpful and breakfast on the roof-top terrace was a delight. There's also an exquisitely decorated upstairs lounge for evening relaxing. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel is almost equidistant between two metro stations (barely a few minutes walk) and there's a handy (underground!) supermarket a hundred metres further down the street for any essentials.

My wife and I have just returned having spent a seven day break at the Columbia Hotel. Prior to leaving for Italy I had read several reviews of the hotel which at the very least made me feel some what apprehensive as to what to expect.
I have to say we were pleasantly surprised the hotel was clean, friendly and very well located for everything you would require i.e. eating houses, places of interest, metro etc.
Yes, the rooms are not huge but I must admit we have never gone on holiday to spend it in the hotel bedroom - 24/7. You must also remember it is a hotel in the capital not on the Italian lakes.
The roof top terrace was fantastic for breakfast and the food beautiful. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Excellent for a weekend break

We have just spent four nights at the hotel and I must admit to being a bit apprehensive before our trip, after reading some of the reviews. I could not disagree more with some of them. We found the hotel comfortable and clean, extremely convenient for the Termini, sightseeing, and very near to many good eating places. The staff were very courteous and helpful, and as I had taken my wife there to celebrate her 60th birthday, we received a pleasant surprise, courtesy of the hotel, when a bottle of "bubbly" was delivered to our room. If we ever get back to Rome we would not hesitate to stay at the same hotel.

I cannot understand the bad reviews of this hotel at all! I have actually stayed there twice, both times being absolutely fabulous. The rooftop breakfast buffet area is a lovely touch. It made the breakfast all the more enjoyable. The rooms are admittedly small, but the services in there made up for all that. The air conditioning was wonderful, just what you need after a long days sight seeing. The location was also great, really handy for everywhere. There are also lots of nice restaurants situated in the area so eating out is no problem. I would recommend it to anyone at all. A lovely hotel with lovely staff.

Only for a night or two!

We needed to be near the train to the airport as we had an early flight...that is the only reason to stay here if you are visiting Rome. The location was fine, room o.k. size but tired and yes it was noisy. If I was going to spend any significant time in my room this would not be the hotel go around the corner to the Metropole....but you will pay!

Eurorail passes If you buy a 3 day or 5 day Eurorail Saver pass be sure to have the dates of travel written on your coupon before getting on a train. They will charge you 50,00 euros if your travel dates are left blank.

getting aroumd with public transportation almost impossible to get taxis - they only stop in taxi stations and it's easier many times to get a combination of bus and metro then a taxi, and obviously a lot cheaper. very easy bus system with detailed information on bus stops and on the bus itself. and if you plan to buy the 3 day pass - note that you get it for free if you buy the roma pass that gives you free and discount admission rates to sights.

Colosseum Buy tickets at Palatine Hill entrance to avoid queues.
