Top Local Tips for Rome
The Roman Forum and around When arriving at the Coloseo, consider joining a tour. For not a lot of extra cash, you will jump the queue and the experience will be that much more rewarding for you.
Almost had car stolen Driving to the many cultural sites in Rome requires extreme patience, good humour and extremely good maps that are mostly useless as most streets do not have signs or they have been defaced by graffitti. You instead need an excellent navigator who can identify whatever the next street is on the map. ie the 2nd turn on the left, then take the third right....instead of looking for a non- existent street sign. You may become lost often and will need to ask directions regularly. Learn how to do this in italian if you can - a big help - everyone was very helpful to us. On one such occasion, a man tried to steal my car while I had stopped to ask a taxi driver for directions although I was a few feet away from the car for a few seconds only. Keep the car locked at all times. Of course, watch your belongings vigilantly re pickpockets throughout Italy. I stopped such an attempt in Venice luckily but heard a lot of sad stories from other travellers.
Museum helpful tips Skip the Vatican lines-book a guided tour with Viator online. We avoided the long hot line outside the Vatican. We met our guide across the street on the steps next to the Vatican cafe. We learned so much, and the Sistine Chapel was breathtaking. it was our favorite tour. Also, make a reservation for the Borghese museum online. (People that showed up without a reservation were turned away) Its located in a charming tree-filled park. We rented a side-by-side bicycle and breezed through the park with our backpacks on the seat between us. It was a cool treat on a hot day. It cost about 10 Euros. Best Italy city ever!

The castle is beautiful and the room I stayed in was the one that is shown on there website with the canopy. Very nice! The view is absolutely gorgeous and romantic! Overall, I would go again, but only for a romantic getway with my husband. This is not a place for family or friends trip. Strickly honeymooners!
