Taxi's on arrival There are regulations in place and prices are fixed from the airport to your hotel, depending on the airport it is either €30 or €40 FIXED PRICE if your hotel is in the centre of Rome. So make sure you dont get over charged
Getting to hotel and around We arrived at Ciampino airport and as you leave customs, a nice young lady directs you to a queue to buy a bus ticket to the main station. This costs 8 Euros one way or 14 euros return. We then had to wait 20 minutes for the bus. If you leave the airport and go outside there is a shuttle bus every 30 minutes going to the main station for 5 euros each way. Alternatively, if you really want to go cheap there is an orange bus every 20 minutes. This takes you to the Metro for one euro. You must buy your ticket before you get on and put it in the machine to activate it as soon as you get on. At the metro station you can buy a ticket for one euro. This ticket gives you 75 minutes to get to the metro station nearest your hotel. The metro is quite small and you can get anywhere within that time. If you are going to have to get the metro from the main station you may as well take this option. Buses are cheap. Taxis are expensive and you need to get a price before you go including luggage.
