We stayed at this hotel two nights in August. It was by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The room reeked of cigarettes (even though we selected a nonsmoking room) and there was no way to open the little window to air it out. No light came in through the window either, we were in perpetual night. The shower leaked (hope it was the shower, could have been the toilet. Finally, they charged us for phone calls we didnt make. I think they must have pulled that cheating stunt in the past because when I innocently asked about saying it was a mistake, the guy at the counter (from New Jersey) started shouting at me in a manner that was completely out of proportion to the question or tone it was asked in. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Hotel Campo De Fiori is a delightful hotel, very clean, elegantly furnished with helpful reception staff and the roof terrace is a wonderful place to relax. Location is excellent.

My girlfriend and I stumbled across the hotel purely by chance after leaving the most vile hotel in rome, the "hotel" Michigan. We were greeted by a very helpful guy at the desk who offered us one of their little apartments close to but separate from the main hotel which turned out to be perfect for us. Round the corner is a daily market which sells the freshest meats, cheeses and fruits, excellent for breakfast and very romantic! Although not the most luxurious room ever, it was clean, private and in a really good spot for seeing the main attractions in Rome. The hotel also offers more upmarket rooms with tvs etc, but if you are looking for somewhere cheap, clean and in a great location on a budget then I would thoroughly reccomend the hotel campo di Fiori to anyone.
