| Best Of A Bad Situation |

We had booked our stay with the Atahotel Villa Pamphili months in advance through an online reservation service. Upon our arrival on a very hot, typical, Roman day and after a 70 euro cab ride we started the check in process. During this time my wife asked me to see if we could get our two rooms overlooking the pool. When I inquired I was told that the pool was closed and under construction for the remainder of the summer and that this had been the case since earlier in the year. Needless to say we were a bit upset. Two kids and a week in Rome in July with no pool. Having visited the Eternal City many times we knew this was a problem. The hotel staff handled the situation very professionally. There are only a few hotels in Rome with pools. The front desk personnel contacted a couple nearby and were able to find us accommodations with pool. They were gracious and understanding. If they treat people who are not staying with them in this manner, guests must be treated like royalty. |
