Historical Traveller Reviews of Ars Hotel
This was not a good choice
from A TripAdvisor MemberThere was no hot water, the room was too smal (not like on the pictures), and it was a 3 star room - not 4 star room/hotel as promised on the web.
However, the people here was nice, the common areas was nice (but small). The building itself was okay, but it is located in a residental area too far away from any of the places you want to go.
We moved to a 3 star hotel nearby the Colosseum and was very happy with that change.

from A TripAdvisor MemberWhat a cute HOtel
from ds103ndelightful little hotel
from marykayt mind a bus ride
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe bought a 3-day ticket (€11) valid in all buses and subways. We used to take bus 60 from the hotel to Piazza Venetia around 9 am, it took us 25-30 minutes. The 15 minutes claimed by others is a bit optimistic, although it might be possible late in the evening. The bus ride is unbelievable (sometimes the bus nearly fell apart due to all the shaking and bumping), but one gets used to it and it is quite funny actually.
To get to the hotel from Termini, bus 90 (Express) is the one to go for. After about 10 minutes, the bus follows Via Nomentana, a long road that heads northeast out of the center. After 20-30 minutes, get out at Piazza Sempione. This is the first stop after crossing a bridge over a small river.
Follow the signs "ARS Hotel" from Piazza Sempione. It is a few-minutes walk.
On our way back to Ciampino, we decided to use the hotel's shuttle. We shared it with another couple, cost: €15 per person. Very comfortable.
So, if you don't mind spending some time in public transportation, I would definately reccommend the ARS hotel. It'll be hard to find the same quality for that price in the centre of Rome (we got the double room for €90 per night via Travelprice).
good priced hotel
from zoeyd123we loved the arshotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberA good place near central Rome
from A TripAdvisor MemberExcellent hotel and fantastic staff
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe rooms are very clean and comfortable and the bathroom was far bigger than I expected. The shower is a little snug but fine and plenty of hot water.
The absolute bonus of this hotel was the staff. They are friendly, welcoming and everybody from the reception to the breakfast caterers could not do enough for us. They were exceptional. The buffet breakfast was the ideal start for the day and the coffee - to die for.
The buses were frequent, number 90 the best route, but avoid rush hour (approx 7pm) when your 15 minute journey can take up to 45+ minutes and is very crowded and a bit too warm for comfort.
Rome is a fantastic city and this hotel made the trip all the more memorable. Book it now - you won't regret it.
The only unfortunate part of our whole experience was my meeting with a pick pocket which is entirely unconnected to this review but if I could only offer one person advice, a description of the offender, where and how it happened to prevent it from reoccuring then please feel free to email me.
Fantastic!!!
from MjrMilneeHere's some tips for anyone going to Rome soon: 1)As soon as you get there, buy the Roma Guide with a map of the bus, train, and metro routes. I couldn't have lived without this!!! Also keep at least two other really, really good maps on hand. 2)Don't take buses during rush hour if you're uncomfortable standing very close to strangers. 3)Eat at the Grotte del Teatro di Pompeo. The waiters are the nicest you'll find and the food is no less then amazing!! (and cheap) 4)Stay away from touristy places that offer lasagna or spaghetti with tomato sauce as a main course. The food is bland and boring.
Thanks to everyone at Tripadvisor for their reviews! You all helped make my stay even better then what I imagined!
Top Local Tips for Rome
The Roman Soldiers at the Coloseum Watch out for the Roman Soldiers at the Coloseum who ask if they can take a photo for you - they'll ask for money from you to get your camera back.
Springtime in Rome I went at the end of March, and although there were occasional showers, I came back with a tan and an unworn jacket !
Roma Pass Get a 3 day pass from the IT tourist authority for Euro 20 and ride the buses and subways at will. It also gets you into the 1st attraction (with us, Coloseo) free and the 2nd at 1/2 price, but most importantly, in the group tour line. No long wait.
