small and poor

stars: cca 2.5 (3.5 "egyptian" stars) - Small rooms (bad and desk only, small windows) - poor breakfast = 2.0 stars(one type of cheese and salame, jam, bread, coffee) - clean, but old and attrited interior - unacceptable for more than tree nights. + reception/desk is helpfull + near to subway and train, historic center is no so far for a walk (2-3km). But for Roma this is classic city hotel as Roma as in itself (poor and dirty).

Don't be fooled by the elegant marbled entrance hall, this is definitely not the Ritz. For a central Rome hotel it is probably better than most but it is not 4* - it is a basic tourist hotel. Offering B&B the rooms are adequate and clean. The rooms are cleaned and tooth mugs, soaps etc replaced daily. The towels are changed daily, although they are rather thin and hard. There are no shower curtains which makes for damp floors and sometimes damp clothes!. Rooms on the front can be noisy as the station is very close. The breakfast room is large but, with 150 rooms, it can be a scrum if you get your timing wrong. The food is adequate, if not very inviting. Overall, a centrally placed hotel which is basic and provides a clean bed and some food if you are out and about seeing the tourist sights. Not a hotel in which to spend any leisure time.

Extremely central and handy 100 metres from Termini. Very clean. Breakfast is fine or as fine as a cold buffet can be but has all the traditional elements. If windows open can be a little noisy from street but that is because it is so central. Staff fine - nothing special. Very good hotel.

Close to Termini station for main trains and underground. A slow amble to the centre of Rome takes about 20 minutes. Rooms small but well decorated. Breakfast only supplied in the hotel but there are a lot of restaurants within 100 yards. Plenty of small bars within easy walking distance, the nearest being 50 yards (very friendly).

Breakfast was very good. We liked the fruits and the coffee machine worked well -- especially for cappucino. Location was great, although the teens hanging around Termini Station were scary--tried to steal our companion's wallet. Safe in the room was handy. TV selection was very limited unless you understand Italian. Room was quiet. Front desk was helpful. Bathroom should come with instructions for Americans--we were told not to flush toilet paper, but our friend was told she could flush the toilet paper. Room was small but clean enough. Elevator was teeny, but maybe that's how Italian elevators are -- just enough room for 2 skinny people and 1 piece of luggage each.

The hotel was placed near the metro station and it was easy to reach the center of the city from such location. The breakfast was satisfying. The room was a bit small but this a classsic for big cities of Europe. Room service was ok. I recommend the hotel for this price.

We enjoyed our stay clean and pleasant surroundings. We would recommend this hotel for its location, within walking distance to all amenities metro buses and sightseeing on foot. Breakfast was plentiful with choice of cereals, meats, cheese, fruit plus coffee and fruit juices. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Ideal location

Very small but clean room. 4 star is clearly overrated. Friendly staff at the reception desk. No bar or restaurant. Rooms not suitable for anything else but having a lay down after a day of intensive sightseeing and off course a good nights sleep. We had a room at the back and therefore we could sleep with the windows open which wasn't possible for our friends who stayed at the front (with windows closed though,no noise at all). Breakfast contains of endless coffee (automatic machine but nice)and fruit juice (also from a machine)rolls (not always fresh) and pre-packet toast. Cereals with (cold) milk. Sliced cheese, cooked ham, salami and plenty of different jams and honey etc. Loads of fresh fruits. The location is absolutely ideal for sightseeing Rome. The Ryanair bus from Ciampino airport (also for non Ryanair passengers)drops you at the right of Termini station. From there it is approx. 100 metres to the hotel. Plenty of restaurants around the hotel where you can have a decent three course meal with (house)wine for anything between €15 and €35 p.p. I payed €67 per night for two (first week march) and consider that good value for money. Further up the season it costs nearly double which makes it a different story alltogether.

The Hotel's actually advertised as a 4 star, which it isn't, but it's clean, comfortable and very well located, near to Termini Station. There are few facilities in the hotel itself but breakfast is fine, there's a pleasant lounge area and there are plenty of shops, restaurants and other services within a 5 minute walk. Good value for what we paid.

The Archimede is the worse three star I have ever stayed in. Tired and the service is poor. There is no kettle / jug of water in the room and no where for you to get a coffee or glass of water in the hotel. A triple room consists of two single beds and a camp bed half the size. Avoid.
