I first stayed at the Arcangelo in 2000 and have been there 3 times since for about a week each time. It is a very quiet hotel and I found the staff to be very helpfull and friendly. 2 of the men at the desk were the same ones each time and 2 of the breakfast workers also. The beds are a little more firm than I am used to but it is most likely good for my back. I thought the breakfast was perfectly adaquate, it is all you can eat. Nothing hot, but plenty of meat and cheese and fruit and lots of hot coffee and tea. I felt very safe in this area at all times with one girlfriend and it is very easy to get around. I do like to do alot of walking when in Europe. The front desk was always helpful when I had a question about my transportation which I usually arrange myself. I will most likely stay there on my next trip this spring with 2 friends.

Top Local Tips for Rome

TAXI RIPOFF If you are approached at the Airport and asked if you want a taxi say NO. It is illegal for the cabbies to approach you. It happened to us. We were approached and agreed on a price to take us into the city. Then the millitary police approached and took us away to question us about what happened. The cabs in Rome are all a ripoff for Americans. Pack light and use as much public transport as possible. Take the subway to Termini station from the Airport and you save 50 Euros.

Get a proper white cab The cabs from the airport to central rome is only 40 euros for 4 people so cheap, must be an official one.
